does this mean that cos kids are not predictable that they shouldnt be allowed near a road?? would solve the problem of so many accidents and deaths.

Horses were around before cars, and should have every right to be on the roads, BUT some riders are so rude and discourtious they get drivers backs up I'm afraid, it costs nothing to lift a hand or nod a head to courtious drivers - bet the same rude riders are quick enough to raise two fingers to bad drivers

Drivers need to learn to slow their pace of life down full stop, it takes not a moment from a journey to slow up for a horse...pedestrian or whatever.

I have no problem with horses on the road but many of the riders do not even acknowledge that you have slowed down etc .

It's the same when you are on a path and you get all your dogs on leads and keep out of their way to let them pass and again not even a nod or a wave .They just ride past and totally ignore you , being polite might make people like them more :(

totally agree..... i always thank drivers, pedestrians etc. As did Jannine, infact she individually thanked every driver..... even the one who gave her abuse and told her that 'horses shouldnt be f'ing on the road'

I suppose she just got the flak for all the rude ones :(

of course they should there is enough room for everyone unfortunatley a lot of riders are just not courteous it comes down to the same thing time and time again the polite riders take the flack for the down right rude :(

Entirely agree with you, Ali. We drive daily down a narrow road where there are 2 equestrian centres. A few of the riders are totally arrogant and never acknowledge drivers. I almost drove into the back of one in the dark and stopped to tell the girl she was lucky she didn't have a seriously injured horse. She didn't even apologise. That said, I would never endanger a horse and always pass as slowly as I can.

blimey enid  to be out in failing light is just bloody irresponsible never mind her horse you could have been seriously injured if it had taken fright she would have had a piece of my mind there are just some things you dont do and ride in failing light imo is one of them its just asking for trouble :(

It was worse than that, Kelly - it was actually dark and the road is unlit. They were leading 2 horses down to one of the yards. I don't know how I stopped in time - I was shaking. I wound the window down and told them what I thought. The lead girl just smirked at me! I was raging!!

Well........Just glad to say that having lived in Halifax for 15 years, I'm glad to be back in Cornwall ;)

Everyone is always in a rush :( In Cornwall they may have stopped and admired the horse.

No excuse for bad manners, either rider or motorist, wherever you live

Everyone is in a stressed out rush these days.

Cant wait for the worlds oil to run out. Should slow things down a pace or two ;)
