I'd like some discussion about making arrangements to ensure our animals are looked after if they outlive their owners.

please either have your say here or give us a link to any previous discussion of this topic

Whippet rescue can help out with these situations

It's written in my will exactly what will be happening to all my dogs, and the people involved know what I expect of them (w00t)

I can't stress how important this is to me. I can't bear to think of my dogs being put into rescue if I pop my clogs, so had to sort things out in advance. One definitely wouldn't cope :(

I don't know if this has been talked about on here before

iv not thought about this to be honest ...i think i need to chrisen my babys so ther god parents no exactly what is expected of them (w00t) :- "

This something I've not really thought about.

I've made arrangments for my daughter if anything was to happen to me so it make sense for me to make them for my girls.

This is a really good topic.

OH HANG ON WHILE I JUST TIE UP A NICE NOOSE !! ANYONE GOT ANY LEONARD COHEN SONGS TO PLAY AS I LOB MYSELF DOWN THE STAIRS

J  HN

I think this is a good topic as I fret over who would take on my dogs, I dont feel any of my family would put the time in with them that they are used to and I cant bear the thought of them in rescue. I just know no one would take on my elderly greyhound as she isn't in the best of health :(

I,ve got lots of people hoping i dont pop of just yet, i've made a will

and as well as Sada i have left instructions for 21 Chinchillas, 4 Degu's,

the gerbils and my daughter..........just in case i get run over by a bus in

the near future

I'm in the process of drafting a new will and I think it's an important issue.

I've appointed my brother as executor and discussed with him what I'd like about the dogs so he knows what my wishes are and I trust him to look after them. Two of the dogs have breeder contracts which will be in the will and I know who'll take another two. They will all be left money to take care of them. (But don't bump me off for it because the lawyers will need receipts..  )

Seriously though, that leaves three who would have to be found new homes and it breaks my heart to think they might be with complete strangers. :( However loving.

I think about this a lot and am very concerned. :(

:( Not a nice thought but you never know whats going to happen.

Helen's haveing ALL mine, she doesn't know it yet (w00t) but she will when she reads this

My family would have mine. (Rachel, don't bump me off  )

At the risk of getting slated, I really love listening to Leonard Cohen. I even have one of his CDs in my car. (w00t) (w00t) I started listening to his music about 35 years ago!!

On a more serious note, I am glad this topic has been raised, as we are about to make new wills so I need to ensure everyone knows my wishes.

This is something we have talked about a lot, but never actually got round to doing anything about it. We keep saying we should make wills but it seems so morbid :(

I did get as far as getting a Canine Care Card from the Dogs Trust but that's all.

They say they will find homes for your dogs but it needs to be set up with a lawyer so probably something to do when doing the wills. Also the cynic in me says, will they really rehome the dogs as promised

I know one of my friends would have Raffy as the whole family love him but my girls would need an active/agility type home.

Oh Gawd, now I'm really depressed :( Pass the wine bottle & turn up the Leonard Cohen..........
