the english language deteriorated into a lazy form of communication ? so many words now pronounced incorrectly that the english language is in fear of going down the proverbial tubes !

ive mentioned before about certain words that are now spoken as lazily as possible ie. the actual word is more or less half formed. i watched a bunch of "slack-jawed" locals from south england somewhere on tv..i wont name their town for fear of offending anyone from there on here o:) but bloody hell were they white afro/americans or were they having a laugh ? i could barely understand a word they vomitted form their mouths.

im beginning to wonder will you all be growing englo afros soon ?

my hated words at present..consume now pronounced conshume by you english also presume is now preshume and the latest is ..us now recently has been changed to uz...

come on you bunch of slack-jawed english sharpen up and enjoy the Queens English its a beautiful thing when you know how to use it

in the very near future i think everyone will talk like txt talk....

"lo ar u we 2day der dem det da is ? was ya god ter cul peewee shity pants der yago !"

do you think the problem lies at school or is it an after school thing. personally i reckon too much time is spent on political correctness and not what schools are really about..then again im loud mouthed Orange man..protestant and proud !

i have to totally agree with you here john..................i was in our local co-op earlier and could not understand a single word the young girl behind the counter said to me when i asked for some stamps

i am always correcting my nearly 16 year old daughter...........it drives me mad.................i was taught how to speak properly when i was at school and my parents always made sure we spoke properly while we where at home (and their geordies :- " )

and dont even get me started on text talk   if i ever get a text with all that crap written in it that i dont understand..............i simply do not reply

I hate that so-called trendy way of 'talking up'-where every sentence/word sounds like a question?-

It's hard to describe.....If you've heard the way some speak-you'll know what i mean.

DORSET AND PROUD

oh my god am i behind the times! when did everyone start saying shopping mall? i still call it a shopping centre!

Don't go blaming the school - we had a child come into the first class at school a few years back and she had a full on American Accent...straight of Nickalodean - she sounded just like betty boop - it reappeared every morning but disappeared quickly, but after weekends and holidays it took along time to fade - Blame the tv!...and the parents for sitting their children in front of it for hours!!

Heard this today---I'll try and get it in context.....

"Ok-So we are throwing a party for..........."

"I've asked everyone to bring.........the following food/drinks"

Someone questions her....

"You're asking everyone to bring that"?.... (some of the suggested drinks are quite expensive for everyones pockets)

Reply-"Well yes, look I don't want to get anal about this"

 (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

Come on------ what does that mean??????

I'm obviously thick or just out of touch.

Karen

(w00t) there are lots of anal people out there

yes lots of arses about...... o:)

Is that it then?...she doesn't want to be an arse about her request?

Am i over- ANAL....izing words/actions again? lol

'tis a Cornish way of speaking too - when I moved down from London I was constantly wondering why everyone was asking questions all the time

Now I do it too

The thing that gets to me most is the constant punctuation of a sentence, paragraph etc with "know what I mean" or "I mean" (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) ...... all the footballers do it, all the school kids and a huge amount of the population in general

I think Frank Bruno started it :- " :- "

Christ John your a fine one to talk!!! (w00t) No-one could understand a word you was coming out with on Saturday night! :p
