I think that it would be good in 2008 to remember that the one aspect of non ped whippet racing is 'open competitions' but it's perhaps the clubs that we all race in and train our dogs in that are equally important. Maybe to re-establish racing at is most grass roots level (and I'm not saying I have any answers :D ) would be a good thing to concentrate on as well as deciding whether a whippet has too much greyhound in it or whether kick boards should be used. Not sure what form it might take, but I'm sure that a few people together could have a 'thought shower' o:) (PC term apparently) and maybe establish a regeneration plan for whippet racing across the country.............maybe some working together might be effective???????

Have had some thoughts, but it's always dodgy putting 'new' ideas on here cos they tend to get ..............'we've done that before.'...........'tried that '.............or 'It'll never work!'

I just think that as we are set to lose Bigges Maine dog track on the 16th march 2008 which might leave us with only one club in the Newcastle area, there must be people who have ideas, experience and the willingness to try to stop this happening all over the country. Maybe it's silly of me to think that we should all help each other, but if as a newcomer to non ped racing you have no clubs to go to train and learn the 'business' then why worry about what format we run at opens, seems rather a narrow vision to me.

'Thought shower' like it.Come on Chris tell us your ideas. All good things come from an idea in the first place  :D Karen

Well i think both organisations should get on together and work together for the better of whippet racing, we never used to have all this bickering, lets just all get on and enjoy wot we love doing sue

Gary,

It was meant to be constructive comment, that most recent matings seem to be with large dogs to greyhounds, of course greyhounds have been in whippet blood, but I believe encouraging large dog matings will restrict the breeding of smaller dogs. I am not moaning about large large dogs, only that too many could lead to the smaller stock being diluted. And, as I stated, I knew it would create debate...so, it was partly fun. And NO I WASN'T DRINKING, because Michelle has been quite ill over the holidays, so my time has been restricted, and I know for sure no one in whippet racing has ever seen me aggressive or rude when I have, unlike some...

Also my grammar is better than most, even I have...

Kind Regards.

Paul

Any way lets have this topic back on track

What We Can Do To Make 2008 A Better Year

I think for 2008 everyone should remember you are entitle to have an opinion of your very own, you might not like it but hey thats life.

People shouldnt be ganged up on on here just because they dont follow the majority.

If you dont like kickboards dont use them, if you dont like watching big dogs stay in the car until they are finished, problems can easily be worked around if you actually try to work around them instead of just moaning about them and doing nothing.

Most important of all try to remember we do this for FUN!!!!!!!

Maybe it's bickering, maybe it's debate, generally I feel K9 promotes the latter.

People will always have conflicting opinions, you either debate it in the open, challenge ideas and think outside the box - or you keep your mouth shut and bitch behind folks backs. Something non-members do about K9! Hell even if someone feels bullied or intimidated they can always have a voice of anonyminity providing they stick to K9 rules.

I don't mean to sound insulting to anyone but so far all the AGM's / meetings I have attended have resulted in shouting and argument with barely anything achieved. It's all fine and well to have a room full of folk shouting their opinions but I'd of thought a meeting's purpose would be to debate an idea, throw it for opinion and then subject it to a vote.

Funny thing is, a lot of this is done on K9 on a daily basis so I can't help but feel that when it comes to sensible debate, I still think K9 leads the way.

there will allways be bickering between humans thats life however

I don't see any NNWRF comittee v BWRA committee I am assuming when you say organisations that is what you are refering to the NNWRF committee are more than willing to work with the BWRA committee. We were invited to an informal meeting with the BWRA committee on 25th Nov 2007 all the NNWRF committee were there for 10-45am the BWRA still waiting

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

What im referring to linda is all the bickering wot goes on on here, y cant people just get on and enjoy themselves how it used to be sue

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

what I see is healthy open debate between individuals about the sport they take part in don't know why you referred to the organisations in your post whilst I am NNWRF chairman and BWRA North West secretary I can still have my own opinions I as other committee members of both organisations willingly work hard for the sport and welcome good open debate it gives an insight to what members want or don't want admittedly it can go a little overboard at times but thats life. WOULDN'T LIFE BE DULL IF EVERYTHING JUST WENT TICK! TOCK!

what me and gary farmer thought that the nwrf and the bwra should have a john and yoko love in stay in bed all weekend.

ps i think your both doing a great job because what a lot of people forget is without people that run these clubs and sit on committes there would be no racing and your jobs dont just stop on sunday after racing your all getting call 7days a week.and chasing up sponserships for us.

well said doreen lets look forward to the 2008 season hope to see some smiling faces

Now now Gary, don't jump to conclusions, I am a year older and a year wiser than last year ( lol ) I have come to the conclusion that lifr is too short to dwell on matters that are not life threating ( ha, ha )

best wishes

Doreen
