Can somebody from lurcherworld put me straight here? Ive been told that the first 6 dogs are going to get "byes" thru to the next round automatically ?

Is there anything else us plebians need to know before turning up, im not saying this is true but it was put to me that the "lurcherworld disciples" maybe getting preferential treatmeant here, can you tell us now also how many dogs will be go thru from each heat.

by the way im only the messenger here ;)

(w00t) byes should be drawn on the day.I'm sure Geoff and Dorne will see that its done fair and square John, the finals are too important to do something like that

yep karen im sure they will but why are there "byes" and why if there are any at all has this not been said..except from a call 5 mins ago to me ?

any other year all names went into a hat and number of heat was drawn...end of.

Can only assume there aren't enough qualifiers, but that still means any byes should be drawn out of the hat on the day

all qualifiers recieved a certificate and also a list with about 25 dogs on it, god knows theres plenty of qualifiers. im not jumping the gun here im only querying what i was told on the fone. id hate to get there and find rules turning up like fukin lithuanians in Dover

How does anyone know who will turn up on the day?Would have thought there wouldn't be any descisions about 'byes' until the day of the competition, and then the exact number of competitors taking part will be known. Then the draw can be done and any byes awarded.Hope that makes sense

Whats a bye???

karen theres 40 names but im not sure how far down the list that got qualifiers. Orvil, a "bye" is a free trip into the next round without having to run.

Can understand that byes may be needed for the coursing John,(odd numbers)but can't see why byes would be needed for racing  if they don't want to run more than 4 dogs in a heat then heats of three dogs will make up for odd numbers in the racing.Think you'll have to wait on Jeff and Dorne letting you know whats going to happen

i thought a buy still had to run but had no one to run against :- "

:) Yes Tish you are right, but the dogs who have a bye don't put so much energy into their running if they aren't against another dog, ( well that's only my opinion) for what it's worth. Di

I think the draw should be done on the day in front of everyone to make it fare, ;)

dont worry about , byes , john , im sure the exocet missile will win anyway , chased closley by colt, very best of luck mate, pass on my wishes to china.oh and colt too.

byes , john , should still run the course like they did at selkirk.

I'm not a regular attender of 'Lurcherworld' shows, I'm usually at NLRC events. Nonetheless, the LW shows I have attended have seemed well, and fairly, run. Personally I'd be very surprised, and disappointed, to find that this statement were so.

As regards byes, et al, I do think the competing dogs should run the course to the finish at least, anything less is patently unfair. At many NLRC events I've attended a 'bye' dog has been substituted for a competitor. I prefer this, it ensures at the very least a competive run. Plus, of course, my dog gets another chance to disgrace itself........
