Twiggy is just over 5 months and I'm not sure when to expect her season.

I have read in books that the first one is due about 6 months but I don't know if Whippets differ from other breeds.

I'm sure her breeder said that Twiggy's mum didn't have her first one till she was 3 years old and I think because of that reason they mated her on it.

Hi Kirs, the earliest we had a bitch in season was 9 months, we also had a bitch that didnt come in till she was 2 1/2.

If I remember correctly, mine were almost a year old before they had their first season. My current whippet is 9 months old (today!), and has not started her first season yet. I think you will find that whippet bitches are often quite late to have their first season compared to breeds of the same size.

The girls were 10 and 11 months but Spry was 9 months for the first one, haven't had a second yet

Oh, my, I've been told bitches don't stop growing until they have had their first season - did yours grow into a greyhound, then?

I hope that is one rule of thumb that is not completely true, else I really hope my "little" girl gets her first season soon.

Be calm Bard ... Layla didn't have her first season til she was 2 1/2 as well and she's a nicley sized bitch. :)

Generally I find about 18 mths is the first time for my bitches.

they come in season when they are ready. theres no set time iv,e had them come in under a year and iv,e had them not come in till 4or 5years of age

And at what age are they fully grown. My hubby wants her to stay the size she is now! Should of got an IG mate!

Tascha had her first one at 8 months, Mysti is now over a year, and still no sign of her first season.
