i need to buy a sofe crate that will fit at least two whippets in for when i go to the open shows, but i dont really know what size i should get or which make are the good ones, can anyone help?

thanks in advance

I use a 36" for two whippies, and I got mine from Marlinpets but I can't seem to find their website :b

You can speak to Richard on 07989 239920

I got mine on eBay. I also have the 3feet long.

Best thing would be to go to some show and look at the different makes people have, some are lot easier to fold and put up than others. :luck:

I know Jo has got a Croft one, which is so big you could live in it! (w00t)

There would definitely be room for at least 4 of them in it!

Yeah, i've got a Croft one. It's really easy to put up but my husband bought me an absolutely massive one!! Juley found it particularly amusing at a recent show

On the Croft website the £46 one is the right size i think. God knows what he bought me - i think he thought he was being kind by buying one bigger than i'd asked for

thanks for that  i'll have a look on the croft website to see what size that one is, then at least i know what im looking for!

If you get one that will fit on a bench 21" wide, you can use it at open and Champ shows , I put 2 into it quite easily ,( obviously just at shows and poss over night should we be away :)

Crufts is a good place to get one   :- "

Marlin is now trading under the name American Pet Products. I think you can find them on ebay. I love their stuff, but I've learned the hard way to only deal with them in person at shows. Any time I've relied on their website or telephone ordering I've been completely messed about. Perhaps their ebay trading is better than their regular website trading....

I have the 30 inch version of the Sof-crate and the 36 inch. Both hold 2 dogs at a show very comfortably.

hey, at least you've got an excuse to have more whippys :D you can say ' but you bought me that big soft crate and it seems a waste when i can fit more in it'! :- "

I'd love one but was worried that Monty would simply dig his way out of it

I've bought a metal one, its so heavy! but not even Monty Magic should be able to make a hole in it - I hope :- "

NO!!!!! Wendy, their Ebay trading IS'NT any better  I would NEVER buy off them again unless in person as they are a real shower!! and have changed trading names several times.........I am sure you can guess why!

We have a 42ins softcrate bought off www.roofrackshop.co.uk it was £70 and is extremely easy to put up and down,it has two openings (one on the roof and one on the side & holds 4 whippets easily) and comes complete with a thick removable liner and a clip on bag for storing things in it also has an attached zip area on the top for keeping bait and show leads etc in. They do other sizes, but we needed that size for our lot,it is also extremely strong, much stronger than the other sorts (I know this as I have had two that our dogs have just "walked" out of!! :( ) I shall see if I can post a pic of it. ;) ours is green BTW

Thanks for that - I suspected their ebay trading wasn't any better. Their prices really are some of the best out there, so when I need something I wait till I'm at a show they're at. They also do stock replacement covers for the soft crates so when certain brindle 'people' chew their way out we have been able to still use it. Replacement covers cost less than 1/2 the cost of replacing the crate.

I can leave Teya and Savvy together in a soft crate, and I can leave Savvy by herself, but I cannot trust Teya alone in one or she'll dig or chew her way out. She's a little 'mummy oriented'. I joke that her umbillical cord is attached about 2 inches from my knee!! Someday I'll be able to use the soft ones permanently again.

of course you could see if a K9er has one for sale , eh Wendy  ;)

I bought one at Crufts last year , put it on my Debit card . and when the statement came , they had only charged me 45 PENCE instead of £45.00 :- "

As I havnt a clue who I bought it off there didnt seem much I could do about it ;)

I've already tried that one - i got Ruby

I've also learned the hard way with the Marlin people (or whatever they are calling themselves nowadays) - they are OK in person at a show, but hopeless to order from.

Even a local kennels, who had placed a big order with them, at a show, had to wait ages and ages (and one of the items on their order was for me).

MONTHS AND MONTHS went by, and the kennel owner, a friend of mine, had to ring them up several times and get cross with them in person at shows too, before the goods came.

I haven't a clue how they stay in business, really I haven't!!!!!
