These 2 strains jumped the species-gap, & are now adapted to pass dog-to-dog.
Neither is highly pathologic, but they can be dangerous to dogs with compromised immune systems, or if the dog is already sick with something [chronic or acute] & the flu is added to the other illness/es.

k9-flu is most likely to crop up where dogs are in close contact for several days or more - a multiday dog-show, a breeding kennel, a shelter...
