Just tried to get onto whippet archives and found this message.

''Due to repeated personal attacks concerning copyright and other issues, I’m sorry to say that I don’t feel I am in the position of running the Whippet Archives website any longer.

I would like to thank all of the whippet friends who supported me with this project over the past few years. Needless to say that, I’m aware how disappointed some of you will be. You will have to thank mainly some British whippet breeders for my decision who persistently schemed against TWA.

I most likely won’t be able to respond to emails on this issue due to time constraints.

Karin Schellner''

What a shame. I know it had some inconsistencies but it was usually a good start to fill in gaps and find litter mates etc. I'm quite disappointed that it's not there anymore. :(

Or is it an April Fool joke????!!!

Edited: Nope, done some online 'digging.' Seems it's true.

I think it is appalling that such a wonderful site, warts and all, has been closed because of a minority of dog owners/breeders. The WA was a good and interesting information site and will be sadly missed by myself for one. However like any similar information base it should be understood that serious research should always return to the original source.

A sad day for many people who have an interest in whippet breeding because of a few. Erroneous information could always be corrected so I wonder what some people were afraid of, or what they had to hide??

I am so sorry to hear this - I hope the website owner has someway of storing all the archived info (warts and all) on own computer and it is not lost (and those of us who spent time adding to the archives have not wasted time). I wonder what the nature of the harassment was, how it was so bad that Karin felt she needed to shut down the site.
