my bitch never gives in mate. she'll hold anything and i mean anything. she uses her head as well. She's picked dozens upon dozens of rabbits out of the bushes without even a run her nose is excellent she can find anything. thats why i bred from my bitch, i wanted my bitch to help teach the pup i keep. I'm surprised how many people know of the sooty sam lines when they ring up about the pups.

i don't think you can beat mikes dogs for working mate your on to a winner there.

Do all these Laguna bitches synchronise their seasons? My dog's sister and niece both whelped last week (w00t) (pics on general whippet). I'm torn whether to have a sibling of Archie or get a nephew of mine.

Sounds like you`ve got a good un there Mally . All the dogs I`ve seen from Mikes breeding have been good , one in particular was outstanding. He made a saluki cross look foolish one day out in Cheshire on some strong winter hares, and was a superb rabbit dog on the land we run on in the Dales. It`s open moorland there , so you don`t need nets just pop a ferret in and wait for the bolters . He rarely missed one , and would hunt up in the long reed grass as well as a springer.

The lad who had him was a typical lurcher lad, never happy with what he had and swapped him for a deerhound cross :b , so I`m not sure what happened to him, I was a bit pissed off that I didn`t get first refusal on him as I would have snapped him up in a second, but that`s life I suppose

The typical lurcher boy wouldn't know a good dog if it hit him at 30 mph. A lad i know has had over thirty dogs in 5 years and brags about it. Thats why theres so much bad publicity around the greyhound/lurcher breeds. Instead of getting a pup and training it ,they go and get an adult dog, realise that it's not what they want get rid of it to the local dog rehoming centre and get another, then another etc. That sort of owner i woundn't class a dog owner they are in my opinion dog USERS.

have the pups arrived yet?

That was one of the reasons I got a bit disenchanted with the lurcher scene, it`s all too easy to buy a grown dog try it, and then if it isn`t what you`re looking for dispose of it .

I haven`t heard from Mike yet, I emailed him yesterday, but haven`t had a reply yet, so the pups may have not arrived. I`ll probably give him a bell tomorrow and see if they`ve been whelped .

I've officially booked a sibling of Archie, hope there are enough to go round. :sweating: do you know many were there in her last litter?

Elizabeth

Well, Mike rang me last night and we have booked a blue brindle bitch. He`s sending some pics next week once the pups are settled down .
