she is just over eight months, stated too tall for showing.it might be perfectly inoccent, but it seem alot of money for a pet.

where was it advertised? I was approached recently about a too tall show dog needing a new home.

sounds a lot for any dog, never mind a unwanted unsuitable surplus to requirements older pup - or am I just cynical? :- "

edited to say that I just noticed this is my 500th post - how can I have made that many in 6 months??????? I obviously talk too much and spend too much time on my pc in the evenings (w00t) (sorry to sidetrack - I do that a lot too!)

I :x too saw this advert today.... Why would anyone in their right mind pay all that money for an oversized bitch, my husband says it's probably just so someone can use it for breeding?

Oh and of course it did come from 12 Champions (pedigree papers).

Sorry but does that really mean that this bitch will throw a lot of champions herself... even I'm not that nieve!

Well. I suppose people can ask anything they want to, the question is are there some people silly enough to pay? I guess it depends how good spin doctor the seller is.

Just couple of months back, we had here somebody totally unknown advertising whippets in The Trading Post, starting at double the sum I sell my pups for, within few weeks they were advertised at 1/4 of my price.

Hope this girl will find good home. :luck:

WE HOPE THAT THE OWNER OF THE DOG IN QUESTION HAS ONLY THE BEST INTEREST OF THE DOG AT HEART,BUT LIKE ITS ALREADY BEEN POINTED OUT THE OWNER IS WITHIN HIS RIGHT TO ASK FOR WHAT EVER PRICE HE/SHE WISHES,AND IF ANOTHER PERSON CAN SEE POTENTIAL IN THE DOG AND BELIEVES THAT THE PRICE IS FAIR THEN IT IS BETWEEN THE OWNER AND THE BUYER.GOOD LUCK TO THE DOG IN THE FUTURE AND WE HOPE THAT IT WILL BE TREATED WELL,BUT SOMEHOW I THINK THE PRICE OF THE DOG WILL BE REDUCED GREATLY SUE

It does seem odd £650 for whippet bitch, that isn’t show or breeding quality.

Why the inflated price??? Thought she would be less money if she is not perfect.

The ad says he is parting with her because she is not up to showing standard.

If this is thetrue reason for her sale I find it difficult to understand how anyone could bear to part with her after owning her for 8 and a half months, surely she’d be like one of the family……I know I would be so attached.

She is lovely

She is very pretty - I love sabled/masked whippets. Maybe the owner thinks a higher price will help ensure a better home for her?

Actually although expensive for a whippet, it is fairly average for pedigree dogs in general - a mother of a friend just spent £600+ for each of a series of Sheltie pups (all of which were pts under a year with congential health problems - liver failure, dwarfism.) An aunt of OH was thinking of getting a dachshund, we looked into it for her and found the average price was around £700.

There seems to be an awful lot of whippet litters available at the moment, some have been advertised for weeks now. I do hope they all find good homes. :luck:

Maybe they have tried to sell her from a pup having no luck with the high price

Not sure if you can tell much from a pic of a dirty floor and chewed skirting boards, but the place she's in looks a bit manky :( I hope she goes to a new, loving home soon.

I didnt want to say much .but glad you pointed that out Helen and look at her feet :(

I really hope this young girl finds a loveing home

If this -bitch is advertised as a dogs that is too big for showing then lets point out easy points here.

First off Its difficult to confirm from a photo but looking at her I would say that she is anything but too big coz she looks short in leg to me.

Also this .bitch has not been bred by any show breeder worth thier salt as she still has her dew claws.

As for 12 champions in the pedigree, this is not something to brag about in a five gen pedigree.

£650 is just not going to happen.
