The Whippet Club of Queensland are holding their first open shows on the 21st February.

This is just a little reminder to everyone attending the open shows this coming weekend to bring a plate to share and a comfy chair for the afternoon and evening shows.

On the day we have been very fortunate to have Richard’s 80 year old Willy’s Whippet Overlander motor vehicle at the show grounds. It has a dicky seat that is ideal for photographing a whippet and owner.

The other Whippet :p

We are asking a small fee for photo’s as a fundraiser for our club

Also on the day tickets in a lovely handmade quilt donated by Linda Evans will be available. Photo following.

All preperation for these shows are going well and look forward to seeing those there. Should be a great day :D

Well after months of rain and surviving it all without incident and planning on braving the flood water damaged roads to travel down to Brisbane for these shows, while preparing the dog trailer last night I had an accident and broke a couple of toes.

I think I was having a blond moment as I accidentally kicked the brick that keeps the trailer in place and thought at the time I must put that out of the way only to smash right back into it on the way back pass the damn thing. Blood everywhere, dogs in the way and an arm load of gear. Oh the joys of showing.

So needless to say I can't put enclosed shoes on at the moment and driving all that way with my toes in this condition is out of the question. Feeling very disappointed to say the least.

But I hope the shows go very well and those that can attend enjoy themselves win or lose.

Bit too far for us :- but hope you all have a great day~the quilt is lovely& Don't forget the results

Oh you poor thing Cristina- ooch bet that hurt bigtime. Would have been great to have seen you- Townsville to Brisbane is a huge drive (one side of the UK to the other- maybe further). Thanks for helping out with publicity for the show. Cheers.

B*gger, Cris!

I was going to offer you and the dogs a lift if you could get to Mackay but then I remembered the van's only got two seats and I've got to pick up Mum and her dogs on the way, sorry. I know you were so looking forward to it, too.

Thanks Gary and Lana,

I spoke to Cheryl last night who is down there for the Rotti speciality and she said jump on a plane and she would show the dogs for me. The thought was in my mind but then when letting dogs out for their final fun for the night that blooming big bull dozer of a Dobermann got in the way of me coming down the back stairs and having thongs on didn't help, needless to say I went flying down and off the side of the stairs, hurting my hip my arm and especially my wrist which I have to have xrayed this morning, I did manage to keep my toes from getting hurt again whew. :(

I'm not a happy little camper right now.

Bit hesitant about even thinking of flying as I'm sure the plane will drop out of the sky.

If you see me there it will be pure luck and I'd buy a lotto ticket.

All the best on the day guys

Cristina

Spoke with Pat this morning, sounds like all went well at the show's, hopefully Gary will post the results or someone send them onto me and I'll post them.

Congratulations guys

Our first shows for the Whippet Club of Qld went really well. There was some great sponsorship support from members and friends of the club from around Australia and the event was a great trial run for our first Championship Show in May 2010. It was the best presented ring and loaded trophy table that I've ever seen for an open show. We had a good entry of 42 and 39 -for an open show- and had exhibitors from as far as Mackay ( Lana). The shows were opened by Barry Vickers president of the CCCQ.

 Sorry about the typo.

Thanks Bill! Was nice not having to travel interstate for a specialty. :clown:

 WOOOOOO GABBY!!!!

Congrats on your Best in Show Gary!

Congratulations to the ever beautiful Gabby - she's an absolute delight - and moved like a two year old. (Does everybody KNOW how much I love this bitch????)

I was very satisfied with the Aslan Whippets' lot and I won the Horse Brass (with the whippet on it) in the raffle! I was totally amazed! I never win raffles!

Lovely shows - and a chance to catch up with a few people in between the two which was much appreciated. Usually at specialties you don't get the chance to socialise much - you're too busy with your dogs.

Looking forward to May 2010.

Congratulations to all the winners & sounds like the organisers deserve a big congrats - sounds like a successful day all round :)

Any piccy's of the winners??

Lynda

Paul May was there taking photos of the winners - but there were a few other shows on at the same time for which I assume he was also the official photographer - but if you check his site hopefully the Whippet Shows will be uploaded in the next couple of days... (they weren't there tonight when I looked). I'm hoping he got some good ones of my kids.

Congrats on the open show to all who put in the hard work to have it up and running and to those whom placed. Bring on the Champ show I'm sure that it will a huge success. :)
