You will be crowing Cartman (w00t) (w00t) Well done  Any further results, ie placings?????? Cor blimey, talk about puttn the pressure on the "Skyeway" dogs - young Miss Sagey is lookn pretty hot & we are about to head off to our National dog show - 3 shows in all.... pressure :sweating: :sweating:

Having an odd time with Master Rio - he is on 2 lots of antibiotics, anti-inflamm's, coedine & we still can't get his temperature lower than 40.1. He is barely eating & looks miserable, but is not complaining - he is all hunched up - feels like we have been living at the vets, they are stumped - only thing that has shown up is a higher than normal white cell count, everything else is normal - he is far from normal :( :( He is very lethargic with not eating - having to help him in that department as with his fluids - no vomitting or diahreaha (spell??) just a very unhappy boy. Have asked vets for xray incase of obstruction & he says nup there aint one coz he can feel - suggested giving him a poo sample & he said nup, bloods covered the testing, changed the family of antibitotics to see if it made a difference, not one scrap. A natural dog show list suggested testing for Canine Hypothyroidism - asked vet - he said nup, that won't affect his white cell count & at only 14mths old, very unlikely it will be that - running out of what to suggest..... and we are off on Wednesday for nearly a week - thank goodness he loves the trailer, he will come & no way he can be shown unless we have a miracle in 2 days - however, at least he is with us - he is also shuddering quite a bit, feels warm but has cold as ears :( :(

Well done Cartman and the Skyeway team of entrants. That must be extremely satisfying as a breeder Jon.

I see Connie got placed at the royal, good on you Elly.

Phoebe got a place too - Karen (Tesa)

All round a very pleasantly surprising set of results, wish I had been there to watch, even better still to take part. (To be honest I can't stand sitting on the sidelines - need to be out there, in amongst it :D ) Fingers crossed for next year.

Link to photo's of the winners on the day...

I think Connie's biggest problem yesterday (other than not wanting to run) was her handler having a brain anerism (Spell??) and showing her like a dobermann!! I thought Mrs Angus was going to shoot me (With good reason mind you!! God knows what I was thinking ... Oh that's right I wasn't!!! :b )

Haaa haaaaaaa...... don't you know that dog shows are a hobby and the whole point is to have fun (w00t) (w00t) Worry not Mr Cartman - the girly is trained & ready to roll - no doubt she will present a few tricks in the ring  Will let ya know when we are back in the land of the living next Tuesday

Hope all goes well with your shows Lynda, hope Master Rio improves in health so he's not worring you so much.

Have a good trip

Just not what I thought would happen, that's all, and it's nice to be surprised.

Royals have always had the reputation of being 'lotteries'. I'm glad I didn't enter Melbourne this year as the judge only selected Open exhibits for CC's and as we all know, an Open exhibit may not be the best dog or bitch.

Congrats to Lisa. She had an absolutely fabulous Whippet weekend with great results at both shows - with different dogs of hers winning the shows (Nugget and Electra at the Specialty and Charlie, Electra & Vesna at the Royal). In addition, she won BOB Ridgeback at the Royal so with 2 BOB's, she's missing the Whippet Show and part of the RR show in Sydney on Saturday. :(

Had dinner with a very tired Anne Marie last night. We'll break open the bubbly on the weekend to celebrate Paris' BISS and championship.

Great show but we're not keen on it changing to a 2 day show from next year.

Cheers

Have to agree with the 2 day show idea ... the dobes do it when we have our national, however we also have other things to do like seminars etc on health or handling etc which makes it worth while.

In saying that they have this year they have really lost the plot and decided to put the national on a Thursday and Friday with another show on the Saturday, followed by the Melbourne Cup shows ... they expect that every one will take the whole week off work to attend (not likely) as they also have Obedience and Working Aptitude Assessments early in the week. Guess who isn't going to that specialty!!!

I know that we are all exhusted by the end of the day with the specialty and I can only assume this is double for the committee who put in a lot of hard work but I have to admit that I kind of like having the day off to recover before heading back to work.

Just my thoughts

I would like to say thankyou to Cartman and Mrs Cartman for giving me the opportunity to showcase such beautiful Whippets.... Paris has to be the absolute ultimate for me, and I have to say it was not easy to pry her loose from them. I have enjoyed the pleasure of many big wins with my Basset Hounds and Pointers over the years, but I think I was more thrilled with Paris's BISS at the weekend than any other win with my home bred Basset Hounds & Pointers.

For those who don't know, the win made Paris up and now she joins the ranks of the other 5 Skyeway Champions at Chakrata, including Kelly (Ch S Bellykissangel) who was awarded 2nd in Open Bitch at the specialty from a very strong class.

The Melbourne Royal Bitch CC and RUBOB was awarded to another Skyeway Bitch Ch Skyeway Secret Charm.... this was her 3rd Royal Challenge Award (hugs to Raymond & David)

All in all the last few days have been very rewarding for Skyeway and those of us connected to this very successful kennel

For me it is all about the dogs and the cleverness of breeding... the wins are the icing on the cake

Congratulations Skyeway ...... well done.... and my heartfelt thanks

I would also like to say congratulations to the Whippet Association of Victoria on another very well run and professional Show

I now have a new website.... please visit

Well Done to all the winners and place getters at both the whippet show and the melbourne royal. We had a wonderful time at both events, with a big THANKS to Sue Delaney for hosting us. It was great to catch up with fellow k9ers and their lovely whippets. I have some photos of the winners which I'll post here later today.

Cheers Griff.
