I could be totally wrong but I think some people sell on because they think they will have to give the dogs back to the breeder for free so they will lose their money    ,I don't know if that is the case or not, maybe some breeders could shed light on that, if a dog comes back to a breeder is it bought back or given back?
I would always buy back, and as far as I know that is the way it works :)

I tell the owners of my puppies that i'll buy them back for ANY reason ......

I wouldnt expect a breeder to buy back a puppy

1) If I hadnt had the puppy the likliehood is that it would have gone to another home that would have kept it forever, so I would have deprived the puppy of a stable and permanent home.

2) The expenses of properly raising the puppy were still occured

3) It would be more difficult to find another home for the dog once it is older

4) I would be so devastated at having to part with the dog that the last thing on my mind would be getting my money back.

:luck: to all the poor unwated dogs at the mercy of idiots. :(

My friend recently bred a litter of yorkies and the afternoon that some new owners had picked up their puppy they brought him back, as they had broken his leg and didnt want him anymore  She gave them their money back and spent ££££'s at the vets getting the poor little thing fixed.

Neither would I Rae. I agree with everything that you've said. Poor little Yorkie pup.

Actually I think that there is another reason that people don't tell the breeder. It's embarrassment at failing or loss of face in some cases. Some people feel that they've let the breeder down and just can't cope with telling them.

I agree Barbara. And not only that they cant cope, but that they may want another puppy from another breeder later on and dont want to be 'blacklisted'

I offer to buy back my pups at full price "IF" the situation arose to hopefully not have the puppy "sold on" like some people do :( .......I'd buy them back at any age and for ANY reason as I feel they are my responsability aswell as I deliberatly bred them :) .......

Thanks for clearing that up you guys I'm sure that by the sounds of things most breeders will be of the same mind as you

i agree  if it was ever necessary for whatever reason that i should need to return a puppy purchased from a breeder at any time that the breeder would take it back without predudice ...thats all....i wouldnt expect any money at all....my only concern would be the dogs welfare
