We are looking at the possibility of having a Whippy fun day in the North. (That is a long way above Watford for those from down South!!)

Will anyone interested, possibly also able to give a hand, post your details (and the area you come from) so that we can organise a central meeting.

It would be best if we could get people from all interests then we can work out a date that doesn't conflict with any other events.

Jools have you thought about whether one of the more northern whippet clubs would like to be involved?

Ours in Devon is organised by the South West whippet club and it may be a good way of organising one through a club as they often have a willing number of committee members ready to help out and have access to faciilities etc..

Some of the profit of ours goes to our club the rest to charity - and its a great day out! :D

Thanks Jo, I hadn't thought of that. Some experienced hands would be a massive help.

Any suggestions are welcome. (keep 'em clean!!)

I'm tied up for the rest of today - must clean up then company tonight, Leeds show tomorrow, so I'm hoping that lots of interested bodies will have posted by the time I get home tomorrow.

Hey you can count me in, Lancaster area would be suitable for me

Maybe its worth having a chat with Jenny about it as she might have some good contacts. :- "

You can count me in. I think somewhere off the M6 would be an ideal place, as it's easy to get to for all folk then.

I would be willing to help out, but have never organised anything greater than a kids birthday party before, so might not be much help to you all.

I'm in St Helens area, Merseyside.

If it's of any use i could see about the possibilty of holding it at our grounds nr Manchester?? There's a clubhouse, large field for caravan's etc close to motorway etc etc would be plenty big enough for racing / showing / agility all in one go, and i'm more than happy to muck in.

It's something a few of us spoke about so might come off next year anyway if i get the go ahead.

ETA i could probably also get hold of a few hundred pounds sponsorship for trophy's / rosettes maybe?

Great idea Vicky (w00t)

Its a great place with all facilities (well a bar is all the facilities i need!) and it is central. Great

sounds like a great idea, we're in Liverpool and it would be lovely to meet everyone (and their pet humans :D )

LOL Vicky I was itching to post after our brief chat about it the other night but I didn't want to push as it's been such a busy year for you. :teehee:

Like Vicky says, the ginpit has good access (and we're good at signposting!) with help from our trusty stepladder

I'll help any way I can

Jac

Jac, is the Ginpit the one where they had the Tsunami appeal? I get so confused about all the different places.

No that was Westhoughton greyhound track which would limit us to just racing really. The Ginpit is a big open flat field surrounded by fields and a village so for the events I imagine people have in mind, it would be more appropiate.

 Anything to do with Whippets, count me in. Manchester is only couple of hours drive, so that's no probs and I am sec of a general canine society and committee member of a Whippet breed club, if that's any use. Happy to help in whatever capacity if I am available on any date you decide.

Ok then, so does anyone have any idea/preference on dates etc? What they would want going on?

How about a long jump and a scurry for those of us who don't do racing, plus showing with lots of fun classes, racing, coursing, just for a start.

As to date, best to suggest a few and see what folk think is the best date.

(w00t) How about a whippet fancy dress class at this event i will send a bitch as a dog  is that the right way round? :teehee: good job i have broad sholders & a nosey wife (or observant as she calls it) :- "

I did a bit of mooching today at other dog fun days and came up with a few ideas.

Waggiest Tail.

Prettiest Bitch.

Handsomest dog.

Best Child handler.

Best rescue Dog.

Brace class

fancy dress

agility?

Frisbee comp (American thing that seems popular)

Sounds a s if you have got a long way with the thoughts stage already Vicky. Do you think we should try and organise a meeting in the near future. There seems to be plenty of interested parties. You call a time and date and lets see how many can make it.

I once entered an Irish Brace class and won it. I took 3 dogs in!!!! (Honestly)

Right then...........Regardless of this coming off i have the weekend of 15th/16th July 2006 booked on our grounds for a weekend event, a non ped open is to be held on Sunday 16th, i figure if we have 12 months to plan it all in it's going to be excellent!

What do you all think?

Or were you thinking of this year? It is a possibilty but we'd need LOTS of helpers to get everything sorted
