Spoken to Dawn, here is a very rough outline of what we are planning. The original idea of a one stop shop/advice/results site was Dawn's. She asked me to join her and we were planning a sort of on-line store where you could go to look for everything from a coat/show lead etc to advice on buying a puppy, house training etc. We were planning to have the results from Champ Shows, major Race meets Lure coursing with interviews and articles on the various disciplines including working Whippets.

There have been so many requests for a magazine like the US one that we are going to do a separate publication, on-line, accessed through our Whippet site. It will be quarterly and will feature the things I have listed. It will have the major show results, hopefully lots of pictures and will be in a similar format to EWhippetZine.

We would welcome ideas of what you would like to see featured in the magazine, suggestions of a name, so far we thought of "The Whippet Mag" but I am sure you can do better.

I'm not sure yet when it will launch, we plan to get working on it next week but we both have other commitments too. We DO intend that it represent the UK Whippet and showcase the breed in this country.

You can't call it the Whippet Mag, or Whippet News, call it All Things whippet, or, The All round Whippet, or, there was a magazine called Snap dog which published all things whippet, I was going to take it one, but when I looked into publishing costs etc I decided it would be too difficult. If it is going to be an online publication that would be viable.

I think you have already outlined points of interest by featuring all aspects of the UK Whippet and it would be great to see results and pictures. I think this would take up an awful lot of 'space' with the amount that goes on over here so perhaps a couple of featured articles each publication or even judges profiles. Or kennel profiles as we have some long standing breeders/exhibitors who I think should be recognised for their contribution to the breed.

As to a name...........WhippetUKMagazine.........WhippetUKNews.....I am sure that someone can come up with something 'punchy' but still pointing to the fact of where its from & for what. Sorry Bertha just read your post on the name but I thought the word Whippet should poss. be first due to people searching

I'm afraid there will be no more hints now until launch. There is a massive amount to do, so patience is the order of the day! (w00t) ( Not my strong point either!)

I , like Pauline, also think something such as 'ONLINEWHIPPETUK' or WHIPPETUKONLINE would be a good choice , think you def need the uk bit in there somewhere anyway :thumbsup:

great idea good to see someone putting their ideas into practice , how about " SPOTLIGHT on WHIPPETS " there used to be a mag in the our non-ped whippets called spotlight on racing was great but as usual due to publication costs etc and a split between the editors it came to an end unfortunately . Hope you have success with yours :luck:
