Any club secretaries wishing to enter their club for Club Dog of the Year please email and let me know by the end of today, thank you!!!

It will probably be run on 1pt per meeting.

Secretaries need to keep an up to date record, of which the top five can be printed each month.

As expected several dogs may dogs have the same total at the end of the year, these will then race off on a timed basis.

The winners of each club then going on to a specially designated event in 2011, for re-timed race off for ‘Club dog of the Year.

A Jacket, Annual Trophy awarded to the winner, also a prize for Club Trainer...a dog used to train on youngsters throughout 2011, nominations for this can be forwarded to me at the end of 2011.

old hall are interested in entering as you now we have a strong club meeting which will ha d a bit more spice for our club racers

Thanks Neil, the clubs that have entered so far are:

Maltby

Old Hall

Wallsend Rising Sun

Westerhope

Any other club that may be interested please email or reply on here by the end of the day, thank you!!!

hi chris just want to check something here. the points system does it work like this? i write down the dates when we have raced and then

every dog thats raced that day gets 1 point? then i send the top 5 to u @ the whippet news every so often? we do have some dogs that race @ both the rising sun and westerhope does that matter?

I'm sure the dogs at A&T might like to be involved.

Carole dogs score at each club that they run at....thanks Vicky we now have:-

A & T

Maltby

Old Hall

Wallsend Rising Sun

Westerhope

Worcester

Its not for trials but for actual racing, it doesn't matter how many races are held you will still have a top club dog with a handful of events, if a few dogs tie on points, then they may run of on a timed basis to find a winner who will go through to the final held at a venue (maybe straight champs) in 2012.....if maybe only a couple on the same points maybe both could go through to the final....I have to see how it works.

It started on Jan 1st through to Dec 31st.....a record kept by club secs on dogs taking part, and then the Top 5 say sent to w news on a regular basis (every couple of months or so)...hope this helps!

ok im probably sounding a bit thick now. but arthur 4 instance races say hellsann @ both wallsend and westerhope. so if he say races 15 time @ wallsend and say 16 times @ westerhope is he technically competeing against himself? so as he raced 16 times @ westehope that wud b the one that counted? am i right?

It's for Top Club Dog, each club enters their top club dog with the most points, if he is top at Wallsend and Westerhope then he has taken out one of the opposition in theory...and not racing against himself if you look at it in a postive way!!

ok thanks and if for any reason a club member doesnt want to take part, they dont have too?

Could you please add Notts + Derby WRC please sorry im late. Les.

Carole no dog has to take part if they don't want too, just let your club secretary know.

Thanks Les I have added you in too....

Can I take it that the following clubs are not taking part (sorry if I have missed any out)?

Or are they awaiting the outcome of their respective AGM???

Ayrshire

Dawdon

Fordingbridge

Hordon

Kirkcaldy

Lancaster

Newton Aycliffe

Rising Sun

Shirebrook

Stockton

Thurrock

Westerhope

ok thanks and if for any reason a club member doesnt want to take part, they dont have too?
 WHY WOULDN'T SOMEONE WANT TO TAKE PART? IT'S THEIR CHOICE, OBVIOUSLY, BUT IT'S NOT AS IF IT'S GOING TO COST THEM ANYTHING 'COS THEY'D BE RUNNING THERE ANYWAY. THE ONLY REASON I CAN THINK IS THAT SOME PEOPLE MIGHT CONSIDER THEIR DOG NOT TO BE A "CLUB DOG"! IF THAT IS THE CASE, WHICH IT MAY NOT BE, THEN IT SMACKS OF A FORM OF SNOBBERY THAT I THOUGHT HAD GONE OUT OF THE SPORT. LET'S FACE IT, WITHOUT THE "CLUB DOGS'" THESE PEOPLE WOULDN'T HAVE THEIR "OPEN CLASS" DOGS' 'COS THEY'D HAVE NOTHING TO TRAIN THEM WITH. I AM ALL FOR THIS COMPETION AS IT GIVES SUPPORT TO THE GRASS ROOTS AND ACKNOWLEDGES THE SERVICE THAT CLUBS GIVE TO OUR SPORT. I FOR ONE DON'T MIND MY DOGS' BEING INCLUDED, BUT THEN AGAIN I CAN'T TRAVEL TO MANY OPENS, SO I AM AT THE CLUB MORE OFTEN THAN NOT. LUCKILY, THIS YEAR WE WILL BE HAVING SOME INTERESTING OPENS AT THE OLD HALL, SO I MAY BE ABLE TO TAKE PART AND IF OTHERS WANT TO LOOK DOWN THEIR COLLECTIVE NOSES AT CLUB DOGS, LET THEM. I WILL NOT BE AMONG THEM!

Good question Bet, I hadn't thought of that, veterans run with the adults in the handicap and the scratch don't!

So after some consideration, my answer is yes, scratch dogs can be included too!

On a very simple basis:- each week you compete you score one point, dogs that open race won't be scoring only in the closed season, but dogs that support the club week in and week out ought to score the most, the top dog and scr dog at each club will then go forward to run off at the champs on a timed basis to find Club dog of the Year.

If a few dogs tie on top points at their club, then they run off on a timed basis to find a single winner......or if we don't have too many winners, say only a couple ot three tied in top spot then maybe they could all go through to the Champs and the timed run off!!!

In its initial stages we won't know how popular it is until it is tried, at the moment it is still trial and error, like most things new!

I hope it proves popular and encourages more dogs to stay and support the clubs, we hope to have decent prizes for the finalists with the winners receiving Trophies, Velvet Jackets and free subs).

The finals could be staged at the champs after weigh in when we are all waiting for the draw to be made (not sure which one as yet, maybe it could be alternated each year between the BWRA & Fed). Just an idea!!!
