Whippet Puppy Wanted

If this is your first whippet do indeed go to a reputable breeder. My search for a puppy made me meet four sets of people, two very unscrupulous and two honest families. The two unscrupulous people were definitely selling greyhounds under the name of whippet. One was a young woman of about 20 at her parents home, one was a 40-ish man with a family. The bitch, although shown to me in both cases, was always wisked away very quickly, but both appeared to my untrained eye still rather large! Diversion included showing me multiple photos of sire etc with no background object to identify the size, overfilling me on care details and even freeing all eight pups, although only one was availblle for sale, with the complete family talking to me constantly ( I counted about four adults and two kids together). On both occasion KC papers we waved about.
When I finally cam across the first proper whippet pup, the mum was right, the people were right but the pup was already 9 weeks old and I wasn't ready for it. The final one was indeed the right one, because although I did not get a chance to see her in the flesh beforehand, it was obvious that the breeder would not have risked their reputation on selling anything but a high quality pup.
So be wary, don't rush and good luck in you search
