Just caught up with this thread. Well done Mark and all involved. Whippet racing needs all the good publicity it can get, and showing people running whippets at 5 years old, shows that we don't ditch them when they get to a certain age.

Sounds like you all had great fun - and yes Mark, I'd love to see the DVD!

Hopefully you will pull in some new members from this too, which is always good for the sport.

Hi June

Due to Gypsys size I thought it best to make it clear that she was an adult dog as several could be heard in the crowd saying "awww look at the little pup"

But I agree that it's great to show them that whippets still race well past what a greyhound would have been retired.

We've now got 2 meetings booked for next year (February & November) but i'm trying to get a race on in the summer as well.

i'll get you a copy of the DVD sent down (i'm posting them all Monday)

We've had a lot of interest from the race and have 3 perspective members coming down and 1 of our sponsores is getting her grandson (approx 15 and dog mad and very polite) a whippet for him to race, 1 of the bookies has also indicated he's interested in getting a pup.
