I started a thread that seems to have caused a K9 listing infringement and has been deleted, so I will start again.

The Moderators of the form have confirmed that posting links to well known internet sites where dogs can be bought and sold is construed as advertising.

There appear to be no exceptions even if it concerns a dog or bitch in vulnerable circumstances.

Lately, such posts have been removed or the rule emphasized.

I understand the Moderators reasons for doing this, it is 'their job' and it does state clearly on K9 'conditions of posting' that advertisments are not acceptable.

I would therefore request that should a member see such a listing on the internet where they consider the advertised dog or bitch to be in a desperate or vulnerable situation such as a young bitch being sold 'about to come into season' that they PM Jane at Scruples, one of her team or myself so that at least the situation can be considered and if appropriate, action be taken.

This way members can still act without causing a dilema for the Moderators.

It's a difficult one - I don't feel that highlighting an advert for a dog in a dangerous situation is the same as advertising your own dog or pups for sale, but I can see it makes it difficult for the moderators to enforce the rules, and of course respect that decision.

I have worried in the past that linking to advertisements on here is actually giving them wider exposure, this is a public forum visible to non-members so absolutely anybody could be scouring the board for sources of free, cheap or vulnerable dogs, it does happen sadly.

Perhaps the way to go is for people to post that they have seen a worrying ad with an outline of the circumstances and invite anyone who may be able to help to PM them for the link? That way the details can be passed on only to 'known' contacts who want them for genuine reasons.

the problem with links to epupz ect is you could get someone putting a link up to say a dog for sale on epupz that may be owned by a freind but they are useing a loophole to get a larger audiance.

I think most know who are involved in scrupples ect so a pm to them with a link would be the best bet, but remember not every dog/bitch for sale is in need of rescue many are just for sale for any number of reasons. (as long as they are not being neglected/badly treated ect ect)

If people need to use the advertising sites then I'd rather see a dog advertised for sale that 'free to a good home'. If people have to put their hands in their pockets then they are far more likely to give some consideration to the implications of being responsible for an animal.

totaly agree, unfortunatly on many sites including k9 there seems to be a culture of "any dog for sale needs rescueing" which is not the case.

people like Jane (scrupples) do a great job in helping genuine cases in need of help, but it must be hard sometimes to draw a line between genuinly needie and those just for sale.

obviously not all pups or dogs for sale are rescues there must be many on here who have bred and sold pups and most of us make sure our pups go to good homes but there are the ones who breed just for money that is why i want to find some way to stop this woman breeding this bitch or any other as she does i know for a fact that there ars 2 9 month old pups left from her last litter and she has a new litter there now i tried the rspca and more or less got told unless they were being miss treated they couldnt do nowt they are kept in a falling down shed in her back garden and always rotten dirty and pups underfed what more do they need :rant:

How very upsetting for you . I reported a greyhound bitch years ago who had pups by her son (w00t) ,! She had killed 3 of the pups leaving 3 . The poor old girl ( at least 9 years old ) was a bag of bones , shed given all to the pups , What did the RSPCA say ? Greyhounds are meant to be thin , and the owner is having her PTS next week anyhow ! (w00t)

needless to say the RSPCA are NOT one id give the time of day . but what about informing you local council about this woman ?

The RSPCA can only act if people are breaking the law, breeding a bitch every season isn't illegal.

I have my own gripes with the RSPCA, but unless there is proof of abuse or neglect there is nothing they can do.

Sadly there are thousands of dogs being kept in poor conditions , or bitches being bred repeatedly, but there's not a damned thing anyone can do about it unless there is obvious and fairly extreme abuse or neglect.
