Hi, has anyone else come across their whippet suffering with a nosebleed. I noticed Willow had one earlier and it's just started bleeding again. It's not pouring but the blood is signifiant, it's not a cut and is definately coming from inside his nose. I've never come across this with either of my 2 before.

Thanks

hi, It can be a blood vessel, one of mine sniffed the ashtray as a pup awwwww. If it recurs a visit to the vet is a must as some bleeding disorders begin this way, these are pretty rare though so dont panic. jan

Thanks for your reply Jan. I just called the night vets as i'm worried because his nose is still bleeding (not constantly but on and off), the vet said although she doesn't think I need to bring him in as an emergency, as he isn't losing loads of blood, I should definately get it checked out with my regular vet asap because it could indicate several conditions including clotting disorders, hypertension, growths, fungus infection. I hope it is just a blood vessel but it seems strange it keeps stopping and starting.

Mmm nose bleeds are rather erratic and may start again if he sneezes, so dont worry but a visit to your vet will rule out anything untoward jan
