come on you lot, who do you think where or are the fastest handicap and scrach dogs, to race none ped? :))

i would say fastest scratch dog while i have been racing was "son of a bitch", and "showthree" would also be up there with the best. handicap racing i would say "swift holly"

difficult to say i think as most tracks have improved 90%

NO LIMIT - HOLLYWOOD -SHERPA -ROSKO - WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE - ANGIE

NO COMMENT - kERRYS DREAM - DANCING GOLD all class/very fast animals of their time and exciting to watch them race

Hi every one way back when i was racing the fastest non ped around was ANOTHER MAID nothing could live with her when she was on form.On saying that Double Handfull used to give her a run for her money and eventualy became a very good equal.PS My opinion only.Charlie

IN MY OPINION ,ONE OF THE FASTEST DOGS ON BOTH BENDS AND STRAIGHTS WAS GO LOCO.ALSO A GOOD HANDICAP DOG IS NORTH TO SOUTH.ITS ONE OF THE ONLY HEAVYWEIGHT DOGS THAT MAKES UP THE YARDAGE OVER A SHORT DISTANCE.

we have had these topics before but here goes :) )fastest scr dogs imo were 1st son of a bitch, all round dog bend & straight would be rosko :)

yd/lb imo best without doubt no comment closley followed before she had her career cut short by injury my own tycool :)

best yd/lb all rounder would be bend & straight little madam

There is no way you can compare dogs/bitches from the past with those running now .

There is an old saying every dog has its day --and a bitch two afternoons.,

Cheery was the best in her day --whilst at the same time Good As Gold was the best dog but niether would come close today in a yard per lb event as times are a lot faster now than then and we have the use of kick boards and rubber floors ect /they had wooden slats back then in the traps./so what is the point of trying to create comparisons/ like Nieil says tracks are a lot faster also outside hare is used not inside . for three years there was no faster bitch on the bends than fluke or in her weight class on the straights and thats a fact not fiction Little Madam was another but smaller . you will never know how the old dogs would have performed to the outside hare /

On time alone, where you can compare dogs from different periods, fastest, for me, scratch dog on the straights would be Son of a Bitch. Fastest handicap weight whippet is Show Three

Yard/pound is meaningless on the staights over championship distances as the lighter dogs have too much advantage but best handicap whippet would be Little Madam which won many overalls on the straights for such a "heavy" bitch and some of it's bend times were incredible.

Fastest bend handicap dog probably Xstacy. Scratch times on the bends are less relevant since many of the No Limits are/have been pretty much Ghds and open Ghds are a lot faster than whippets over bend distances.

as steve ses the tracks are alot faster and safer today as they was years back

but in years i would say 1980 steinman was the 1 i could remember as bein a great dog as in bitches i loved swift wind and fort the speed was incredible

1990 s the best dog for me in that period of time was slippy blue a fantastic little dog and for the bitches it had to be swift holly a legend to me

2000 s hew nose whats round the corner like :- "

little madam heavy tony do you call being 21lb heavy

some more excellent bend dogs fly free & satnin , indian joe , lauras dream, show the world, freewheeler :- " what a race that would have been :- "

As Steve said-for various reasons it would be silly to compare dogs from the past with dogs running today-but not looking too far back Little Madam is well worth a mention especially for her speed/versatility.

Fluke was untouchable for a good few years too and was only caught out occasionally around her 6 monthly cycle-

Not going to get into the 'my dog is/was faster than that, this and the other' banter as this type of conversation/thread normally throws up- because its pointless-those who regularly race/travel and attend meetings know the score.

Good/impressive/reliable club dogs would be worth a mention maybe-as they are rarely spoken of-

Boogie Nights

Lets Boogie

Megans Maestro

Malcolmn's pack were good strong competitors too-

these ran regularly at Penrith-will be knocking on a bit now though.

Karen

P.S

just another thought-

Legends should be left well alone as they deserve to be-

Lauren Bacall spoke alot of sense when being interviewed recently -when asked about Nicole Kidman being a legend???

Of course she's not-she's very good but still in her early days in comparison to Miss Bacall-

steve/karen, making comparisons will allways be done like boxing ,football ,cricket,it is just someone"s opinion(dos"nt mean they are right)
