Leanne, definately would be interested and raering to go. Will give Mickey a ring and find out more about it. It will be an earley start. Thanks Leanne.

Leanne ,just spoke to Mickey on his mobile No, and he says the show in Derry is cancelled and is not going ahead. What a pity , it would of been a nice day out for everybody and to meet all the Canine folk. But I am sure there will be more coming up shortly.

I live in Derry and this is the first I heard. I wonder if it's a bit of a joke as there is a field in Belmont where some of us exercise our dogs but no way you would have a show there, or maybe he means somewhere else. Also it's not a good time of year to be organising an outdoor event; the match show in St Columb's Park was cancelled twice due to the prolonged snows. Anyway, I'll try to find out more because if Mickey is serious maybe something else can be arranged later this year.

to clarify about the match show (for pedigree dogs) at St Columb's Park, the committee did arrange to have use of the indoor hall if necessary. The reason the Dec. matches were cancelled was because of road conditions which would have prevented many people from coming to the match, even from quite nearby.

Nice to see people from Newtownards and Portadown saying they would travel to Derry for a show. I haven't rung Mickey yet, but as I said - given the venue mentioned I suspect a prank. I think the most suitable venue in Derry would be Ballyarnett Country Park, provided city council would give permission. They do have horse shows there from time to time, and the rings would be okay for dog classes. There's even an enclosed straight track used by greyhound trainers. No toilets, but that's true of a couple of other N. Ireland venues where I've taken my dogs.

re Ballyarnett Park, proper name is Earhart Park. It includes the field where Amelia Earhart landed on her first transatlantic solo flight
