Why Do I Bother?

Ahhhhh my specialised subject!!!!

Barney and Ella would produce the best thieves in the world then!

The more you try to stop em the more they try to do it

Before champs Ella gets caged when i'm not in the room.

She once thieved night before the champs, got half a pint of salt water down her throat - didn't throw up, so another half pint of salt water - didn't throw up, so not only did she have all this food in her belly but an extra pint of water too

All adds to the excitement! lol

Tell you what he really loves to do..when we let him out first thing he dashes into the Kitchen. gets on to his back legs and stretches out his tongue, which is quite long. And tries to get the butter off the side. bless isn't he sweet

dobs has had butter galore,i now keep it all in fridge, honey roasted peanuts and cashews by the packet load( ive also learned to hide these beyond his reach) and if he can get to my grill pan he puts his tongue through the chrome bars and licks the fat up out of the drip tray!dont ya just love 'em!

Wow are you sure thats a whippet you've got    sounds like a tasmanian devil to me (w00t)

He's definately some kind of devil. I suppose if I'm shouting at him I'm not shouting at the hubby. (w00t)

how do you stop them eating fruit you grow in the garden. He managed to raid the strawberry patch and stripped the goosebery bush.   he dislikes rhubarb mind but loves black and redcurrants. He picks his own blackberries as does his mother and sister and Apple cores are to die for, you cant throw them away or they sit and sulk. :(   I don't think they believe they are dogs i think they believe they are human.

My lot eat my strawberries and pick the apples from the tree :( ........I gave up growing red and black currents as I never saw them .......and the raspberries were stripped of leaves and buds befor they could even fruit  ........My beans I grow in big pots and tomatoes I've also given up on ..........but they do love a few hours blackberrying

I tried telling them they are not good for them all I got was a look of 'Yeah right' and off they go. We have a large Gooseberry bush with red gooseberries they used to taste good but I haven't seen any since Barney found them so Twister and him get into competition to see who can eat the most.....What can you do with them? They don't like grapefruit but come to think of it I'm not too keen myself (w00t)

I once had a dog that ate two dozen onions my dad had strung up in the shed..Mum put the dog in the shed cos she had grandchildren coming she wished she hadn't his breath smelt awful (w00t)

 The times we've spent trying to find a dog that was quietly stripping a blackberry bush and refusing to answer our calls. Duster used to very delicately only take the nice ripe ones but Bandit would just drag a whole bramble of the bush (w00t)

Well he's really excelled himself today. He's on a rice diet at the moment after eating a whole bunny yesterday. This morning at 3 he was waking me up to go to the loo with the squitters. :x So i'm trying to settle his stomach. Anyway what is the nutritional value of half a lipstick and a blue eyeshadow. the daughter wasn't pleased he only just made it to his caged. If he could have shut it behind him he would have. She came hurtling down the stairs with what looked like the remains of a mascara brush. don't know what she was going to do with it but barney wasn't in the mood to find out. Guess who has some shopping to do? I suppose i should be pleased at least he brushed his teeth after eating. (w00t)

It's not just mine then? He once stripped quite a lot of gooseberries too, despite being a very, very thorny kind. Unfortunately they were a bit underripe, so they were finally regurgitated on my bed :x He loves blackberrying with me too, he strips the bottom of the bush while I do the top. Strawberries are now encased in several layers of protection to keep all the furry scavengers away.

I don't think fruit eating is that odd; study fox droppings, of which I have copious amounts in my garden all year :x in summer and autumn they consist almost entirely of first blackberries, then plums and apples.

Mouldy food, be very careful. I had a batch of wheat (from the local farm) which looked absolutely fine but must have been infected with some sort of mold; I lost half my birds, and Gelert also managed to wolf some down from a feed bin, and had dyssentary-like symptoms for about 10 days. Only later did I put two and two together and work out the connection. I'm very careful where I buy my feeds now, I'm guessing it was aflatoxins. :(
