WHY HAVE THE GBGB BANNED THE USE OF electrolytes IN GREYHOUND RACING DOES ANYONE KNOW.?

They have just reminded trainers of the rule that already exists saying they should "only uncontaminated water maybe used in the racing paddock "

This follows discussions early in the year with their veterinary director Simon Gower that has said they are not needed & the best thing for immediate rehydration after a race or trial is fresh water.

Bit different in our case Steve,more runs.Wonder how many people use electrolytes regularly? Like each time a dog races.I've got some but would only use them if I felt it would be beneficial to the dog,because of extreme conditions.Some people give them to dogs after every race

THINK YOUR SPOT ON THERE KARREN REGARDING MORE RUNS BUT DO THINK IN NON PED RACING WITH DOGS HAVING 2 TO 3/4 RUNS IN ONE DAY YOU HAVE TO PUT SOMETHING BACK INTO THEM

I'm deffo gonna get shot in the foot now :lol: Believe condition of dog after racing,on the whole comes from condition of dog prior to racing Graham.I know that sometimes there are extreme conditions i.e weather,etc but I believe on a normal race meet for us and if the dog is able to get to Supreme run off,having lets say 3 runs or in Reds case 4 runs at champs all that went into him afterwards was water with a bit of milk to make him drink it.I did the same with Duke and Harv.Even if you take into account bad travellers,and Duke wasn't the best (ask my mate :lol: )still only water afterwards.JMO but believe you cope with the dogs condition by their diet and fitness,before and after racing :thumbsup: Believe the main exceptions come with injuries,but thats a whole different topic :lol:
