my beautiful girlie is growing up :) ..at 9.5 months old there is still no sign of her growing into her ears..or nose..or tongue :) ..but she is beautiful all the same (in my eyes anyway)

What a beautiful glossy coat Willow has :)

I've got some shots of Molly at a similar age with her tongue looking like some sort of alien life form which belonged to a dog twice her size too- she's grown into her tongue and her nose, but her ears have always remained way too big for her. Molly was starved as a puppy and she's never grown the skeleton to be a properly proportioned GSD. Her ears, paws and tail belong to a much bigger dog (her tail is so long that if she straightens it she can stand on it) and while she has a proper big GSD ribcage, she never grew the skull to mount the ears properly or the long bones to be as tall as she should be.

It's good to see Willow not having these issues- in fact I'd be happy to see no dog ever have those issues in future.

Be proud of her, I'm sure she's 99% wonderful and it's way too easy to get hung up on the 1% to recognise all of the things that are fabulous.

Oh my goodness, Molly is beautiful :) ...poor Molly though being treated like that..there are some real scum bags around. :( . Every dog we have ever had has been rescue, all with issues, but slowly they make progress..im so glad Molly came to you..she looks really happy..her tongue is just like Willows :) ..huge and slobbery !!

Willow is just starting to get fluffy behind her ears and her neck..just like Molly..and although she looks pure black in the pictures her legs are going really brown..with brown coming through on the fluffy bits around her neck and ears...at this rate she will only be left with a black body, her mum was a tri coloured GSD with alot of black on her so Willow will maybe look like her mum when she is older..

EVERYONE comments on her coat...it must be her food because her coat/skin was awful when she came ..but thank you, yes it is really shiny x

My 3 favourite Molly bits are the crimped bits of fur behind her ears, her eyelashes and the long fur between her toes. The crimped bits are so GSD and so snuggly :)

I think that we've given Molly a good and happy life- at least I hope we have. She's starting to slow down a lot and it's easy to see why most working GSDs retire at about 8 or 9 because the stamina really starts to reduce, but she's still just as excited to have a fuss and go out in the car to have a nosy at what is happening in the world and while that's still happening I will love her to the ends of the earth.

Willow looks like she's still got a lot of filling out to do- she's at the gangly older puppy stage when the legs don't always obey the brain- isn't that stage cute? Better that she's lean and healthy than overweight though, there are way too many dogs that carry more weight than they should, and it's always our fault. Please snuggle her from me and Molly Moo :)

Yea, we are very careful with her weight. She is weighed every 2/3weeks now and her food is weighed according to her weight/age. The only treats she has are fish 4 dogs skins and some kibble from her food allowance...sometimes liver if I want a very high value treat for things like recall /training etc. We feed kibble and I know alot of people slam dried food but we got the very best we could afford. She was on orijen till she got bored, now she is on millies wolfheart hunters mix..with a few chicken wings, eggs, sardines and liver thrown in and she is the picture of health..but yes she is gangly at the moment..but I'm sure she will fill out later..and like you say its better to keep her weight down
