I've been getting notices fro Microsoft saying I will have to update to windows 11 by October. I will have to buy a new PC as mine has "hardware limitations "
I just hope I can transfer all the stuff stored on it .
What do you think of Windows 11 ?

I don't have any problems with it at all - I barely noticed any difference when I updated. I hope transferring your data goes smoothly - I leave all of that kind of stuff to Mr N.

Been using it for a while, is OK for a MS product if you turn off all the telemetry and other spyware and bloat. I tried to upgrade it on a non-compliant PC yesterday, getting around the security requirements and most hardware requirements was trivial, but sorting out UEFI was beyond my ability so I gave up and installed Linux on this PC instead.

@Dibbythedog - I can offer some advice on getting Win11 installed on your PC, or suggest alternatives without the need to dump your computer (really, MS should be paying for everything going to landfill, it's a disgrace). Also, TPM 2.0 which is a requirement might need to be activated on your PC in BIOS to make it work. If it's really old you won't have this, but I guess anything in the last 5 years might be OK.

I'm having the same, I'm not very tech savvy so keep dismissing the message for the time being, but at some point I'll have to get it sorted I suppose:emoji_anguished:

Thanks , @arealhuman I will bear that in mind . It's less than 5 years old.

@CitizenKanine Im the same as you :D but my OH is pretty good with this sort of stuff.
I still miss Windows 7 !

Mine is from late 2021 it was sold with windows 10 but windows 11 ready.. Im now informed by MS that it doesn't meet requirements.. grrrr
It might be that you need to enable TPM 2.0 in your BIOS. Do you know what requirement(s) your PC doesn't meet? There are ways to install Windows 11 to bypass some of the requirements (I did it on my PC so, for example, I don't need a MS account).

This article might help about TPM 2.0 and enabling it.

@arealhuman I read your messages about this tech stuff and it's like trying to understand gobbledegook to me!😂

Thankfully my daughter helps or one of her friends!

I know! There are a lot of PCs out there that will run Windows 11 but have security features turned off so the system reports it can't.
