Beau does tend to eat more during the winter months and will ask for extra food if he has not had enough. Albus eats much the same quantity year round.

As far as exercise is concerned I have to make Beau go out some days during the cold weather, he would happily spend all day in bed and just go out for the necessaries. Albus is the complete opposite. He loves really wet rain and the feel of the frost under his feet. We have some great times together during the winter months. As the other posters say though he his still a young dog and should be raring to go.

I would increase his food a bit (remember the packet instructions are only a guideline) and just keep an eye on him.

That boy loves coming back soaked to the skin. I'm sure its because he loves ragging the towel when I try to dry him. :D

Well yesterday I decided to give Murphy 1/2 a cup of Arden Grange extra to his usual food. I gave him 1/4 of a cup when he woke up, 1/4 of a cup at about 3:30pm and a portion of Nature's Diet for his tea. He wasn't begging for food all day and seemed much more content and willing to play. Looks like he was hungry poor lad. Now I just need to keep a check on his weight so he doesn't turn into a podgy whippet - yuk!

Ellie didn't look too impressed - she remains on a strict diet!

i wouldnt worry about weight, very few whippets become fat (sometimes certain medication will increase weight) give him a balanced diet and plenty of excercise and he will be fine
