I'm sooo proud, my little rescue lurcher has passed his KC Silver award.
I've only had him about 18 months, but he's older than that, and had obviously received no training when we took him on. He had been abandoned by travellers and was scared of pretty much everything. The rescue told us he was a whippet, however it was an easy mistake to make as he was so thin. As he bulked up both bodily and muscle wise it became clear that he was some sort of sighthound cross.
Whatever he is, he's gorgeous and my clever little lad. I'm so happy to see his confidence growing. It may not seem a big deal to pass the KC awards, but to this little fella, to progress from being my constant shadow and crying if I left his sight for as little as a few seconds, to developing the skills he has had to exhibit to pass this award, demonstrates the huge leaps in confidence he has made.
Wish us luck for Gold, we start official training next week. (we've been practising at home for ages :b )
