Hello all, sorry not kept up for a while, but thought I'd drop by and let you know how Woody and Bobby are getting on.
They've gone from strength to strength on thier medications. Woody is still on quite a high dosage of steriods, but they make such a difference to him the vet doesn't mind too much, we tried dropping it a little but he went downhill, so we upped them back to the level he is happy on. Its great to see him bounding around on walks, he even chased after a deer a while back, he didn't get very far bless him but the thought was there, this from the dog that couldn't get up, or walk and looked like a skeleton when I picked him up. and I'm very pleased to say he now weighs nearly a whopping 15kg
Bobby is doing very well too, also having put on a little weight, he's still taking the medication for is heart murmer and the vet and I decided to put him on metacam as he's been quite stiff in his shoulders and front legs now the weather is getting a little colder, he's very happy on it, he can once again trot round the woods once snuffling for bunnies.
I took them to my obedience club's annual show along with my young lurcher. I put bobby and woody into a show class each, Bobby in the pedigree veteran class, and Woody in the novelty veteran class. I'm such a proud mum because they both came first!!!!! I am soooooo pleased for them, when you consider what a mess they were in when I got them I feel its such an achievement for them. The pedigree judge said Bobby had fantastic coat and teeth, and he moved really well. The novelty judge was a woman from the dogs trust who was nearly in tears when she saw Woody, as she thought he wasn't going to make it at one point.
So here is the proof, YOU CAN TEACH OLD WHIPPIES NEW TRICKS......
