Ok so first trip to my own vet who has lurchers herself and I trust implicitly. Woodys very wobbly on his feet and the blood test showed a underctive thyroid gland, she's given him medication for this but doesn't think it will solve the wobblyness problem, she assessed him and also discovered a slight heart murmer and very bad teeth. She's going to have a good think about the problem and ring me back tomorrow where upon we'll decide what to do next, but she was thinking along the lines of brain or spinal tumour.

With Bobby, she listened to his heart murmer and thinks it is much worse than the dogs trust thought, he is booked in for a heart x-ray and teeth cleaning a week on friday (8th) after which she can decide which heart medication he will be on. Also discovered a cateract in his eye (obviously we cannot opperate due to him only having one eye) but he will eventually go blind. My poor poor boys, they're not in good shape at all

I am so, so sorry to hear this :(

You are an absolute saint to give them this care and attention. I know that, whatever happens, you will make their remaining days happier and safer than they have ever had before.

I shall be keeping my fingers well and truly crossed for both the boys. Good luck Woody and Bobby  :luck:

good luck , and janes right you are a star taking them on for their golden years xx

I am so sorry to hear what Woody and Bobby are going through. Sending lots of luck to them both.

I'm so glad they have you to care for them in these difficult final years for them, you will do the best you can for them and they will have comfort and love.

Good Luck with all their difficulties xxx

Oh Soph really sorry to hear all this - I know you were possibly expecting some less than encouraging news about Woody but poor Bobs as well? What depressing news. Though it makes me happier that they are on a nice warm sofa getting cuddles in their twilight time and not in kennels (even though Dog's Trust are generally palaces compared to other place  ).

Hope they come back with more promising answers - fingers crossed for you all. :luck:

Hope things work out well for these lovely dogs. Fingers crossed.

Good Luck to you and your lovely boys........fingers and paws crossed for some positive news.

So glad they have someone to love and care for them :)

So sorry that it's not better news, but they have a good home with you where they are safe and warm and loved. Good luck, and fingers crossed that it doesn't turn out as bad as you think. xx :flowers: :huggles:

Oh life's not fair is it. :( l have everything crossed here for Woody and Bobby not to mention a few prayers for them. Keep us posted as to what the vet recommends.

Sorry to hear this about these beautiful boys :(

Maybe it will all turn out better than the vet thinks at the moment :luck: :luck:

Dear Pointydogs

I am thinking of you (as I am sure are many others) as you worry about poor old Woody at the vets. I do hope you get some good news.

Poor old Woody!

Please let us know ASAP how things have gone. We are all worried :(

I had put a bit of an up-date on the bottom of the 'woody's new collar' thread as I didn't want people to get fed up of this topic getting bumped up again all the time! In brief, he's going for x-rays tomorrow - I'm very worried

Hello

Any news???????

Ended up at the vets today as old Misty managed to poke herself in the eye on a twigg. She is fine but feeling really sorry for herself.
