Another lovely day of whippet racing at Worcester track, a great turnout of people and dogs made for a thoroughly enjoyable days racing. Heat one of the handicap race saw Come on Bess (16lb) run a fantastic race taking a good lead from the start and holding her ground to the finish line. Second place for this race went to Sapphire Flash (23) with Merry Legs (23) in third. In Heat two, Paper Dragon (36) struggled to make up ground on the 12 yards handicap given to Montana’s Impact (24) due to her previous wins. Montana’s impact ran a strong race to earn his place in the final. The A final was an exciting race with the youngster Come on Bess taking the win, a spirited little dog and a well deserved win, well done Craig. Paper Dragon and Sapphire Flash dead heated to share second place and Montana’s Impact was third.
Today saw plenty of people eager for race trials with the clubs resident terriers have a good run, and lurchers and whippets a plenty. It was especially nice to see the puppy and novice training with littermates Brooke and Blaze (Sapphire Flash and Maid Your Point) having a good go behind the lure. Brooke taking to the lure like a natural, blaze being a little more hesitate but improving greatly on the second try. Good luck to Tina hope blaze turns out to be a good racer for you. Also nice to see was the trainee bedlington whippets, new additions to Worcester club, showing plenty of promise and taking to training well. Overall an exciting day of racing and fantastic day out for all, hope to see everyone again next week and well done to the racers.
