POOR SONNY JIM went to the vets today, for a xray. the vet throught that he had broke his toe, :( but lucky he only sprained it. so he put it in a splint for 8 to 10 days, But we did not think it would take so long to come around, he had it done at 10.30am,and he is still sound a sleep -_- , it is now 9.30 pm do all whippets take this long ???????

Hi squizzle sorry to hear about sonny jim, im rearly surprised he is out for the count, we have had plenty of injuries in the last 25 year's and I can assure you that he should of been wide awake by now :( :(

Has the vet told you how long he will be out for :b

I thought he might have given him a locam which should of made him drowsy just enough to take an xray

big ron and diamond geezer

the vet said he might be like untill the morning. it is now 10.30 and still out, i am staying down stairs with him,the vet said that i can phone him any time of the night, i might just do that about 2am hope he comes round soon , i am getting worried. :( elaine

Hmm I would have thought that he should be round by now. If the vets use rapinovet then they normally walk out of the vets and are pretty okay in the evening.

I've never had one that has been out of it for that length of time. All mine have eaten in the evening.

Sorry to hear about Sonny Jim hurting his toe.

I would ring the vet Elaine, after mine have had an op(Sienna and Spry) both were wide awake when I went to pick them up, they are usually sleepy and feeling sorry for them selves for that day but would definatley not miss tea time and by this time would be back to normal, hope he is all better very soon :huggles: :luck:

Was he asleep when you took him home? I haven't come across a vet that would let one go until it was steady on its feet. How is he doing now? :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

We've had 2 rounds of anaesthetic for x-rays in the last couple of months, and although ours was slightly groggy and shivery for a few hours afterwards, he wasn't out cold like this  I'd be concerned if he's still like it this morning. :luck: :luck:

Hmm I hope that he's back to normal by now Elaine.

Doesn't sound right to me. Is he awake yet ?

he ia more a wake now but he still has not got up on his legs yet :( he has had some chicken, let you how he is later thank you all for asking after HIM

Well thats better news. I would still tell the vet though. At least he will know that Sonny hasn't not done well on that anaesthetic if he needs to be put under again.

Hi Elaine, Hope sonny jim is better today, it's very worrying when you take them to a vet, as you don't know what to expect, :- "

Hope he will progress very soon, give him a big hug and kiss from us :huggles: :huggles:

Love Big Ron and Diamond Geezer xxxxxxxx

i too would tell the vet hes been out of it for so long.ive never know a dog to be zonked like this for so long.also i wouldnt have thought a vet would let a dog go home if hes still out of it as anything could happen and i would think the vet would want to monitor his progress to check nothings wrong.i had a dobie male have anaesthesia for some x rays and he was woozy but on his legs when we went to pick him up.i brought him home but didnt like the look of him.he collapsed later and i had to give him resussitation.he nearly died.i rang thevet and he told me to bring him back to the surgery immediately.he checked him over and he was ok but i dread to think what might have happened. :( hope hes better now :luck: :luck: :luck:
