Is it just me or is everyone else itching to get back into the swing of things with racing ? Roll on the English Derby

I suppose I am so impatient to get back to racing as this is my pup's first year and it's always exciting with a new dog ... isn't it ?

Anyone making the trek(figure of speech) down to Warwick for the bend champs and FED Derby etc. ??

I wasn't going to bother until the English Derby but I get "itchy feet" and want to go race somewhere. I was almost bullied into going down to Warwick ( long story) and my pick weekend was the BWRA Tyrone as Connors Lass has never raced at a BWRA Bend Event. But alas she managed to bruise her wrist while club racing last weekend so that put a stop to that at least for another week.

My puppy is currently just enjoying herself chasing after the lure, she's only 13mths old and a little sweetie  I have no plans for her this year as I am trying to sus out the best training technique for her, might have just about cracked it with Connors Lass but Moany Moany proves a bit of a challenge. o:)

What's everyone else doing ?? C'mon someone please reply :* :* :*

I agree the English Derby is a well run event and I would recommend it and Newton Aycliffe has top class facilitys.

:p i can not wait for the straight season to start the 1st race being at dawdon will probably go to that then the english derby cant wait. No idea how my dogs will do this year got to get mickey whizz race fit again and whisper whizz just a young un yet but stil I cant wait roll on easter lol

Can anyone let me know when the Scottish Derby is on. My club Fordingbridge has put an open on the last Sunday in July and I have a funny feeling that is when the Highland Derby usually is?

You were right Rocky, it is normaly that date but the highland derby final is on sunday August 1st this year. I think the whole meeting has been put back one week.

:) YES IT IS DEFINITLY ONE WEEK LATER THAN NORMAL I KNOW FROM MY HOLS OFF WORK L

Hi fleesh. it must be close to an open as tigger has done it again, jade had packed her bags ready for her holiday in tenerreef, two bags of worthers origenals, three

snickers, and a full family bag of wine gums, he looks like a blown up pig, he is also looking very sorry for himself, I could kill him he seems to wait until the end of the week to give me no chance of getting the weight of, or makeing him feel well

again. I was going to Warwick but I will have to wait and see how he looks sunday morning.

Mmmm now who does that remind me of?

Ella's new trick is climbing on top of Robyn's jeep in the garage to get to the sack of dog mixer - i knew i'd put it up high & kept wondering why she was getting more & more barrel like, today i noticed big gaping hole in the side of the sack!

Blaze's favourite trick is to steal the bread and butter off the side while you make your sarnies ... and now she has the cheek to stand next to me and cry for some pear before I even have the first bite.

She used to stick her head in the bin 'till we put it outside and she tried to put her head through the flap in the food bin until she got the bin lid stick on her head

Last week she ran at Maltby weighing 30lb dead, after her normal evening feed and despite all that running she weighed in the next day at Manton 30lb 12oz. I asked her there and then "Blaze did you steal out the bin ?"

NEVER SEEN A DOG RACE SO FAST IN ALL MY LIFE (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) !!!

However going the way she is going I don't think she'll ever make it below 31lb again, she struggles to get to 30lb on a good day and has gone up about a pound and a half in 2 weeks. All in all she's put on nearly 3lb in 5 weeks.

Kerri has no trouble with stealing food, I think the basic fact is that she's too lazy to do it. Except the one time when taking her for a walk she dropped as if she stumbled but then carried on walking again. Imagine my delight as another 100yds down the road I turned to see her complacently following me carrying a jam fulled donut in her mouth :teehee: !!!

:p Hello Fleesh , Paulys in bed so Ive got on the pc :D We cant wait for racing to start again ours are really bored now. Ive been walking them I dont need to worry about there weight thay steal anything thay can get there paws on but never put weight on :)

Need to get racing now and have some fun with the pups.
