A friend of mine who has a stunning Whippet Dog and is looking for a new home for him.

Reason:The dog is not good with strange dogs though we thought he may grow out of this with socialisation he hasnt though. he lives with another dog and with some dogs he is fine.

Though perfect in many ways he will bite certain strange dogs and because of this my friend whom lives in a built up area where he comes into contact with many strange dogs has made the hard decision to re-home.

The dog is 18 months old I bred him he was one of my Christmas litter.

He would suite someone who lives in a more rural location.

If anyone would like more details or is interested pm or email me on I.Beetles@btopenworld.com

Im reading Jan Fennel the dog whisperer, at the mo, she has really good advice about this sort of thing, if he really doesnt want to rehome (but feels he has to) why not give it a go before you have to rehome

Either way good luck

Hi Whippet Kd,

To be honest with you the chap is a bit of a softy with regards to his Dogs I have given him plenty of advice example(Why not try him with a muzzle Answer:When I do he does nothing but try to get it off and doesnt like it?)

So you see the guy is quite soft with his Dogs its very difficult to get somebody like this to be stern and determined.

I think what worries the guy is that he likes to let them run off the lead and if your in a park where potentially there are other dogs he is nervous as if the Whippet sees a strange Dog he will run off after the Dog and by the time you catch up any potential damage is done so he dont like the fact that he needs to be kept on a lead from a Dog point of view if he was somewhere less populated there would be less or no strange Dogs and could have his freedom.

hope he finds a loving home for him! if i was in his position i would try a muzzle like you said and see how it goes from there ,i wonder why he does this with dogs he dont know? hes he been bit or another dog or a dog went for him while he was a pup or in the past?

i know what hes saying,he likes his dogs to be off lead like i do and i am weary of dogs i dont know but herley will only go so far towards them and he runs away from them and only after that he will approach them again (tust i think)

maz xx

what a shame! dij was exactly the same but through a couple of months of serious hard work, he's now able to runin the park again off lead.....just now he still has a muzzle but that is more for my benefit; having got used to having a dog that runs in barking and snapping, tensing up 'for the worst' is a hard habit to get out of .... and i'f i'm tense he figures ther must be something to be afraid of/attack!

i guess i'm adding this Ian, so that people reading this know it is perfectly possible to turn this dog around - just because he's being rehomed because of his behaviour to other dogs doesn't mean whoever has him won't be able to get him sorted ......... i'm sure with a bit of hard work this lad will become the joy to walk that Digit is becoming again - and leads & uzzels will be a thing of the past.
