ZAC

Zac is a 2 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. He is a tiny little fella and curls up even smaller! Zac has a black coat that is a bit sparse at the moment but this will improve steadily with some good food and a soft bed.

Zac has not been with us long so we are still assessing his personality. So far he has been quite outgoing and affectionate with everyone at the kennels. He loves his cuddles and enjoys getting out on his walks too. We will update with more information once we know him a bit better.

Zac has been very good with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far, and enjoys his romp in the paddock. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these will be carried out prior to adoption.

Zac has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It usually takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience.

Like most greyhounds, Zac will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

Zac is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Zac, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application and information pack. Thanks!
