Zoomie was noodling in Grandad's garden yesterday when he came hobbling over to me on three legs.
To my horror he had a two-inch gash down the back of his pastern, from pad to pad, right down to the bone. He was rushed to the vet for an emergency op and he's severed a tendon
The goodish news is that there are four tendons in that part of the leg and the other three are okay. The severed one has been stitched back together so his chances of recovery are good although the vet said tendons don't heal well. The vet is optimistic though and looked after him beautifully - he gave him a very special purple bandage because it's his favourite colour . We'll just have to see how he gets on as he heals - he's certainly very sore.
We searched all over the garden where he'd been and the only thing we found was some very sharp ice with blood on it .
So please beware - ice can be as sharp as knives and can do horrid damage to our wee babies. Even where you least expect it!
He spent all night sleeping off the anaesthetic, snoring and being cuddled (he did manage a little bit of mince for dinner though  )
