i c your point in a way. but wot would you class my 2 dog as -----ive one there 3quarter breed greyhound quarter collie the other is straight cross collie greyhound both are good all rounder dogs even the one that is breed so close to the greyhound they still make great working dog wotever the breed.

it would be hard to win a race with lurcher to lurcher breding now days

to be honest lads maybe there should be another thread about this as there is no need bringing the master mg grate into this discussion....there will be thousands of different opp on this but my opp anyone runs a full hound should never be let run at another racing meeting i know if it happend at one of r days racing they be told were to go becos if tat is not cheating wat is so lads if that crack starts it will be a dying sport

A lurcher is a type not a breed.Lurcher types are bred to catch quarry. The quarry may vary, hence the different types bred.A heavily saturated sight hound lurcher type, can still catch quarry.,so why shouldn't it be able to race?

What if every ancestor of your dog was a greyhound apart from its great-great-great granny?

thats my point TTT most of the dogs in lurcher racing are bred back to grey that much they might as well be greyhound

My dogs work also as well a chase the bag But I dont fell the need to come on oan knock the likes of big Caveys Patch who has done very well at the racing this year I know young Ivan has put alot of workinto getting the dog fit and is proud to be a qualifier

Folks, can we get back to the original topic. We all know that if you wish to be successful on the lurcher racing scene that ones dog must contain a lot of greyhound blood in the breeding or saturated as it has been put. But if people are knowingly breeding greyhound to greyhound, or racing a dog which they know to be bred from a greyhound to a greyhound mating and telling blatant lies about the breeding then it is cheating. It is a difficult thing to prove if there is a dog suspected of being a greyhound. I can think of 4 or 5 current dogs which are racing that are rumoured to be greyhounds. What is going on with the lurcher racing scene at the minute? Again is it because of bigger prizes and prize money at stake?

Well, in my eyes if someone does that for the glory of a rosette, that makes them a cheat. Pathetic really.

Is there a motive to this topic other than stir it up amongst the main compeditors Albert and alot of other folk have put a lot of time and effort into this event I know a few of the Qualifiers and would not say a bad word against any of them So we dont want this what coulld be a great days craick and sport ruined by someone with a bee in thier bonnet

dont think it as anything to do with prize money i think it as more to do with peoples competativeness , people always want better than the rest and if that entails cheating some people will ....

I definitely don't have any bees in my bonnet. Also i am not trying to stir things up. I also know a few of the qualifiers and havn't said a bad word about anyone of them. I have also said on other posts that it is great that Albert is stepping out and doing his best to promote lurcher and terrier shows. Every lurcher show and race should be a great days craic. Its fantastic that such events are being organized and run. But if greyhounds are being run are you saying that this is ok. I have posted a topic which many people have been discussing privately but i brought it out into the open and put my name to it, something i knew i would take a bit of flak over. If it is happening just staying quiet about it will not cause it to go away. Is it my post which is ruining the sport or the people who are rumoured to be running greyhounds?

In our reply you have said IF someone is running a greyhound and earlier you said IF they are knowingly breeding greyhond to greyhond until this is fact and there is evidence to back it up along with the name of the guilty party can:t see what your getting on your soap box for

Me either. Read the very first original post? Why are there so many dogs at present who are rumoured to be greyhounds? Again is it ok to race greyhounds at lurcher shows?
