one of my high-school classmates, a blonde girl with fair skin, had odd-colored eyes - one blue, & one green.
She found it excruciatingly embarrassing, it made her very self-conscious, but it really wasn't that obvious - i mean, she pointed it out to me one day, while we sat together on the bus!
It's not as if her green eye was a deep emerald color, after all - & i thot it was pretty. // She of course hated it, as some brats in the early grades twitted her about them.
Younger children, especially under-10-YO, can be vicious in attacking anybody who's different, & bicolored eyes are certainly that. // Most kids outgrow the nasty tendency to pick at differences as they mature, but not all. There are always a few who dislike or even despise anyone who's different from themselves, & the greater the difference that the hater perceives, the more they dislike or despise them.
KKK members & white-privilege hate groups are adult manifestations of the prejudices of small children, & IMO, they're clearly instances of arrested development.
I don't like blue eyes in horses, even if it's only one eye - that blue eye can be light-sensitive in bright sun, & see less effectively in the dark, than a normally-pigmented dark eye, which makes riding that horse potentially dangerous, especially in dim light or darkness, when the rider depends on the horse to see BETTER than humans can.
Blue-eyed dogs may squint in bright sunlight, but their vision doesn't seem to be affected as much as blue-eyed horses.
bi-color eyes are indeed striking - one brunette model made a fortune in the 1980s, having been born with mink-dark hair, slightly olive skin with good pigment in her lips & cheeks, & bi-colored eyes: one bright blue, the other deep brown.
They often used her face in make-up ads with a split down the middle, & using different colors of eye shadow, lipstick, foundation, & blush, on each "face", to illustrate how to accent one's own coloring. // If they hired her, they paid only ONE person, rather than 2 - so she collected a nice premium.

My BSc is in Equine Studies. Only horse I've ever come across that had blue eyes with a sensitivity to bright sunlight was a cremello so obviously he had pink skin and was sensitive due to lack of pigment. And the sunlight only bothered him when it was Summer when it reflected off the arena sand into his eyes. Maybe more of an issue in the US and sunnier climes? Never heard of it being an issue at all in the UK.

just as an aside, in equines, ocular squamous-cell carcinoma [SCC] is more common in blue-eyes than in brown eyes.
