OMG crazy evening episodes....uncontrollable pup...frighten for our lives ha ha..please help

Oh the zoomies! Love the zoomies! Probably not at night when you want to watch tv though.....


Does it happen every night? Same time?

Ha ha they are funny to watch until she goes crazy to get us. Yes pretty much the same time.

I only crate her at bedtime. Should I crate at other times?? Thing is when she is possessed i’m frightened to touch her as she is a lunatic. She is a dream during the day give or take biting/mouthing episodes.

Zoomies can be good in that they expend some energy and can be a fun, joyful thing for the puppy and for us to watch.

But sometimes they are over the top - puppies are like toddlers in some respects; they get overtired, but don't know how to settle quietly, so they become overwraught and go nuts and can't calm down - does that make sense? Later, teaching her to settle will be good, but she is probably too young at this stage. So sometimes you sort of need to create the settle yourself by putting her in a quiet, soothing environment for a couple of minutes. It isn't a punishment, it's just a chill out.

U can encourage the zoomies when they strike, by throwing a toy she can chase, shake & kill [such as a flat no-stuffing sturdy furry], or producing a ball that's too big to grab with her mouth, that she can shoulder, nose, & jump on, to make it move - & U can kick it, to give her a new tangent to run.
That takes her mouth out of action, temporarily, & it gives her something to chase, hit, & push around, to expend some ya-yas harmlessly.

Depending on yer dog's size, i'd suggest either the 6" or the 10" Boomer-ball -

We used to get down on the floor and throw tennis balls back and forth, with Jasper playing piggy in the middle. I'm sure we still had to do lots of timeouts for biting though! And I agree with the 'overtired' toddler comparison - we taught 'settle' and eventually that worked and he'd crash out, though I can't remember how old he was when it did start working...
