The Dog Cafe

So, from the great recommendation of @JudyN please welcome the dog cafe!

This is a place to mention anything that you like! Big or small whoever’s in the cafe is here to listen :)

Welcome all to the cafe :)

What’s everyone been up to today?

I have something to celebrate :) For the first time since knee surgery at the end of September, I walked all the way to the woods and back (2.5-3 miles in total)! I hadn't intended to go that far, but Jasper looked so happy to be headed that way I didn't have the heart to turn back.

Life is ironic though - on the way back, I was thinking that I could tell OH that he wouldn't have to do morning walks any more, but came home to an email from him saying that his mum was very ill, he needed to head up there first thing in the morning, and asking if I could manage morning walks...:(

Huh, typical man, has to spoil everything!
I hope his mother will be ok.
Best wishes.

Thanks @excuseme :) I hate that I can't go up too, thanks to Jasper being a 'special needs' dog that we can't leave with anyone else, and can't leave on his own when we're away from home in a place he doesn't know. A few years back I had to miss my father-in-law's funeral because of this, and OH has had to miss two weddings and my mum's 80th.

That must have been a great feeling @JudyN to walk all that way again!

But sorry to hear about your OH’s mum

@JudyN great news about the walking less great about your OH's mum is ok.

Always full of pawsecco!

It must be a day for mums and hospitals.. I got a message that mine has been taken to hospital straight from her dialysis unit...
OH is sweet sometimes he told me 'if you need to go just go I will manage the dogs' I daresay he would remember to feed the dogs and Basil but lord knows if he would feed himself. Last time I was away he ate lots of cheese sandwiches and DD had to step in.

I hope she's OK, @Mad Murphy. I'd probably live on sandwiches and muesli myself if I didn't have to cook for anyone else. Oh, and cake - carrot cake is at least one of your five a day, right? :D

This is when living far away gets less attractive. Theres no answer from mums house or her mobile . My useless lump of a brother is also MIA even though he lives with her...
So now I have no idea what is going on...:(

Oh MM, I do hope you find out how she is soon :( Are there any other friends/relations who live near her you could contact? ((((Hugs)))

I only have contact with my niece via FB and shes just moved out of the area, there is no one else around. But I knew if mums gone in its got to be to St Georges because they are the nearest to her with a renal unit so I phoned them and Ive spent the past hour just trying to get through to the renal ward but no one picks up ..Ive been through switchboard twice and A&E once as the phones just ring out and send you off to another dept.

What a shambles.

Edit

After trying every few minutes for 3 hours and getting nowhere. I tried mums mobile again and it worked ..a friend had taken her a charger... shes ok (well shes alive and moaning.) .. her renal failure is worse and she will be in for a few days...still no word from my idiot brother, hes gone to football.

Any news on your mum, @Mad Murphy ?

Just as above she is alive.. she will be kept in and given daily dialysis. Her dialysis unit hadnt notice her potassium rising to dangerous levels! She asked if this could be to do with her heart problem and was told it might be but that was a cardio problem and shes on renal ward so they didnt know....

Sorry, MM, I missed your edit yesterday.

We need a headbanging emoji... Sure she'll be fine now, and have the best possible care now she's given everyone, including the staff, a scare.

I'm sad to say MIL passed away, peacefully, yesterday. She was already in hospital with health problems, but then developed a twisted gut - basically, bloat. She was too weak for an operation, so they were really just controlling her pain with medication. When OH and DS2 went up on Friday she was comfortable and pain-free but they weren't sure if she was aware they were there. SIL was with her when she slipped away. To give a positive spin, she was 80, and if she hadn't developed the gut problem she'd have been facing a long and possibly unsuccessful recovery.
