Tigger's disabled which is why she has me with her outside, one back leg is pinned together after a pretty bad injury in 2020 <3

It's given me hope for her, she clearly wants to stay despite the pain she starts getting again a few days before she gets her next pain injection from her vet love ❤️ (vets are there to give loves, she says that's their only job description) ❤️

I met another Black Cat over the weekend. Now I have two friends who have black cats. It's always disconcerting to me, to see these other black cats that are so much bigger than my tiny Queen Eva. But what struck me about this one, also female, was she greeted me much like Queen Eva greets my sister, by leading me around her apartment and showing me her things. Sadly, the apartment of my new friend is not very catified (compared to my house, for instance) but she showed me where she eats, where her litter box is, where her sunny bed in a window was, and she also led me into the bedroom and showed me her human's bed, I am assuming she (the cat) sleeps there too and that is why she showed it to me. She had a lot to say about it all as she led me around too, and her human, my new friend, was quite impressed, said the last person she had here (as it happens, a mutual acquaintance) the cat hid under the bed and didn't come out until the visitor left.

Queen Eva loves to show off all her toys and things when someone comes. She's always done it, ever since she was a tiny kitten, with 3 other big cats around. Loki, the one male black cat I know, greets me and has a lot to say and indicates if he wants to play, but he doesn't lead me around, the way Queen Eva does my company, and the way Jasmine Eva did me, on Saturday.

Queen Eva knows the sounds I make when I begin to prepare her lunch. With a few exceptions once a week or so to change up her rotation, in general her lunch is cooked chicken with home made broth and EZ Complete. She eats her raw pork meals with the EZc added just fine, but does not like the EZc in the cooked meal, so I give it to her first in a plate, with a little water added and she laps it up.

She spends her days in her Sun Beam Bed these days, and I feed her there. I checked her around 1:15 and she was sound asleep. I went into the kitchen and prepared the saucer of EZc, and when I brought it into her I found her awake and already crouched in position to tuck in. Here is a picture of Queen Eva being served lunch in her Sun Beam Bed.

I am always so happy when Queen Eva indicates she wants to play. It's difficult to remember that she is over 15 years old now. These long hot summer days she spends sleeping in her Sun Beam Bed, but just as I am about to drop into bed exhausted every night, yep you guessed it, that's when she's raring to go lol. So I muster up and start a Game. ....She sits and stares. I try for a few minutes, then try another. She yawns and turns away. Game # 3, 4 and 5....no takers.

I finally hit on the right one, oh happy day, and we have a good 5 minute play session, then we are both ready to climb onto our respective heating pads and settle down, me with my book and her usually with a good wash, and then a long purr session as she dozes off.

Heaven!

Queen Eva has that chin acne again. I felt it early this morning, a big lump of it along the edge of her jaw. The only way I can know it's there is when she comes under the covers with me in bed. When she is curled up against me under the covers she allows a thorough massaging of her underside, including a skritching of her chin. That's when I check for acne. Lately she hasn't been coming under, too hot probably, but she did early this morning and I felt the lump of acne. It hasn't gotten to the crusty stage yet so I caught it early at least.

I started with the coconut oil this morning, much to her annoyance. It's not the flavor she objects to, she actually likes it, she just doesn't like me holding her against her will to apply it. I do have the antiseptic spray, but last time the coconut oil did the trick so I'll start with that., keeping the antiseptic as the next line of defense.

I hope she will be okay ❤️

Queen Eva still plays almost every day, as long as I pay attention to her cues and see when she is asking. Here is a Game she has played all her life, though it's a bit modified now. She used to play this in our old place with much running and leaping and climbing the curtains lol. Since we moved here 5 years ago, she's played this game with her cube rather than chasing it all over the house but lately she doesn't want to cube so I tried it this way and it has been a success. She even gets a little airborne.

This video is her second session of the night with it, though it took 3 tries to find the game she wanted, at first. I tried Crumpled Paper Ball Game (no), and Cube Game (no) before I tried Chase the Snake. She was so enthusiastic, I decided to try for some video. I was taking a chance because sometimes me reaching for the camera makes her stop, but instead of holding it I left it in place. As you can see I also get exercise in this game haha.

Not bad for 15 and 2 months years old!

Thank you! It's not serious and I caught it early. Her first episode with chin acne was almost exactly 6 months ago, so I am wondering if there is a season aspect. She starts her spring shed in February, when the angle of the sun changes, and she has started her fall shed this month.

After I rub the coconut oil in of course she does a vigorous face wash, and I hope as she does it she's rubbing it in more even as she tries to wash it off. However this morning I thought of a way to delay her washing her face, I do a swipe of the coconut oil on either flank after I finish rubbing it into her chin. She's used to getting swipes of treats on her flanks, so that got her busy washing up her flanks and gave the chin more time to soak up the coconut oil.

Hope you can watch the video. I love it when a 15 year old cat can get airborne, even if it's only a little!

Her chin is already responding to the coconut oil and the lump of acne has opened up/draining and clearing up already. I will do the treatment twice a day for 3 more days after today, 7 days in total.

I put together a few clips of Queen Eva watching her Critter Cam. The still in the beginning is Queen Eva telling me it's her turn on the computer. The still at the end is Queen Eva taking over the computer and me needing to stream my youtube playlist for dancing to my TV.

What a wonderful story. I never knew you had a cat! Harps is gorgeous! There is just something so incredibly rewarding about earning the trust of a scaredy cat, isn't there?
I mostly stopped posting in the cat areas of 'that other place' as it got incredibly cliquey in the last few years, but I originally joined there for the cat area, and have had one cat or other the whole time!

It did get a bit cliquey for a few years, I remember, now that you mention it. Almost as bad as TCS! These days I don't really know what to think. I felt ignored most of the time so I gave up posting about Queen Eva. Though I did get a lot of support when Mazy cat went through her last days in March/April 2022, so there is that.
