ooooo just thought...could have an Iggie...they're not a hound...and so beautiful...

I suppose my dachsies don't count, being hounds ... I'd love a mini smooth or two to keep the mini wires company. Otherwise if I couldn't have more whippets ...................... I have no idea.

We fostered an adorable Yorkie once, so maybe a Yorkie, but all I really want is what I have, whippets and dachsies.

Wirehaired Pointer for me :D I love them, in fact we have talked about getting one but not for a very long time because we don't ever want to have more than 2 doggies.

You mean there are other breeds available??

I have lurchers (only part hounds) & can't imagine ever wanting any other type of dog but if i had to choose I'd probably go for a dalmatian as we had one years ago who was a great dog despite not being a hound :p

We do also have a Bedlington but I'm not sure my nerves could stand having another one :clown:

I would find it so awful not having whippets, but I think a French Bulldog would help ease the pain.

I love terriers, feisty little things, full of character, but small enough to be manageable. I fell in love with a Lakeland a few years ago, but the only trouble is many of them require specialised grooming or stripping, and having one dog like that already (Stan isn't classed as a terrier in this country, he comes under utility) has really put me off the grooming side of things (I'd hate to see them have an all over trim with an electric trimmer, it just doesn't look nice and spoils the coat). It would have to be a short-haired dog, so I think I'd go for a short haired fox terrier too!

Tibetan Terriers always make me smile, but again, it's that grooming aspect that puts me off. Whippets are nigh on perfect for ease of owning and living with aren't they? I've always quite liked the look of those small, black barge dogs too, but they are a bit too Spitz like. Basenji's appealed for a while too, but they sound quite complex dogs, but I don't have the time or space requirements for complex!

The only group of dogs that have never appealed are gun dogs /pastoral dogs, or large to giant breeds, or flat faced dogs. I'd rather go without if I had to choose one of these.

mmm a difficult one because I only like whippets.. :clown:

but I love sighthounds in general, so if No whippets..then an Italian Greyhound or a Deerhound

and if I had to choose 'No hound' at all.....then maybe a Pointer... :D or yes Like Jax...More Cats or just more small furries...

If i couldn't have my hounds then for me it would have to be a Lakeland terrier (red) i had a black/tan one years ago and i still miss him to this day :( They are brilliant little working dogs  i would always have to have a breed i could do something with, not in to cuddly lap dogs, like the of rough and ready type lol

oh janis, thats clever, iggys arnt classed as houds are they, they are toy?? (w00t)

oh i would have an iggy

I would have a beddy or maybe a pointer. But I don't think I could be without a whippet!

As well as my whippets and Dachsie i would'nt mind a lurcher,Greyhound.

Wot No Whippets?

It would have to be some sporting breed - probably GSP or Viszla

but as long as it chased cats it would do for me

Hey a loophole! Isn't it odd though - I wouldn't have an iggy, even given how similar they are to whips - too small for me! :) Would have to be whippet sized or bigger.

I love loads of different breeds, but they are mostly little dogs! So I could choose either a Boston Terrier, Patterdale, Shiba Inu or a gorgeous little Manchester Terrier like our old Holly

I want an Affenpinscher. I was going to start looking for one this year but as I have kept two from my last litter of Whipps and the two oldies are still going strong at the moment, I am going to have to put that on the back burner at the mo.

Then I would like another Borzoi and when I retire I am going to get another horse. OH is cool about that but what I haven't told him is that it is going to be a pure-bred Arab!!!
