this really is a genuine question and not designed to annoy or offend anyone...

there always seems to be many non ped whippet pups available...plus many unwanted non ped whippet adults?

many people on k9 jump up and down if anyone dares to rehome a pedigree whippet regardless of their circumstances and trashes many pedigree whippet breeders for one reason or another....so why the double standards? :wacko: :thumbsup:

Dunno, it always makes me kinda sad when some people get jumped all over and bad-mouthed and then other people are given loads of support for the same thing :wacko:

But as I don't show or race I just want a whippet around so would gladly rehome any when I am in a position to. Surley having a good loving home is what is required. My boy is KC but was given to me by a breeder friend who wouldn't let him go as a Christmas prezzie and ended up with him left there! I love him no matter where he came from and he has a wonderful life with his girls and me, just wish he wouldn't sleep across the bed and use my ankles as a pillar. :b but he does make a good foot warmer :huggles:

Your probably best asking this question within the non-ped forum as most non-ped racers tend to only view that forum.
 
When talking about non ped dogs, you'd get a better response asking on the non ped board to the non ped owners!

I think the question applies to the ped owners too :thumbsup: a very controversial subject I think, lots of different oppinions I would have thought :unsure:

I am a non ped owner with eight dogs/bitches with an age range from 12years old to 9months--and as Vicky ?or someone pointed out i tend to stay on the non ped threads--so i am at a loss to see where you are comming from with your question ???

yes there are lots of what some people may term unwanted pups/adults on this site

i for one think that some people just breed for breedings sake with no thought about what where or who will end up with thier pups/

the same can be said about some people who breed loads of kids can't it--

i was not aware that any non ped people were sitting in judgement on ped owners with regards to breeding requirements ---- shows i should read more --

Question ? Is it the same ones all the time who are having a pop? if so you know what to do with regards to an answer---Second word would be ----OFF!

This i totaly agree with steve,in the last year or so its been like puppy farming iv said this very openly and will keep saying it,the whippet world is starting to get out of hand just like the greyhound world as PRICES AND UNWANTED PUPS IF THEY DO NOT MAKING THE GRATE,most people find them a good home pet or other wise. :oops:
 
my question was aimed at ped owners...

i wasnt implying anything has been said by ped owners about non ped owners....its generally ped owners trashing ped breeders or ped dogs being rehomed.....but my question is why dont they comment on the non ped owners breeding habits too?

obviously this question is understood by many and as i said i wasnt trying to be cause an issue....it really was a genuine observation ....and i thought there may be a genuine answer.....fair enough if noone want to answer :(
 
I find that some people are blinkered when it comes to certain subjects and sometimes can't see there are many other options to look at other than what concerns them...and not just in the dog world either...so maybe a lesson can be learnt...look ouside your own circle, see whats going on and then be able to give a more informed view.

This is just my opinion and is not aimed at anyone...

I was a little upset by one of your previous threads Kaz but decided that time that discretion was the better part of valour and left well alone. This time I DO think you are trying to cause an issue- despite what you say. Circumstances have caused me to reminise a lot over the past few days, I have lived with a whippet in the house for 46 years during that time have met many wonderful ped whippet owners, people who show, people who race or people who just love them, why can't you be pleased for the breed because it has so many wonderful supporters

and stop trying to knock them all the time. It's made me very sad to write this because I do try to see everyone's point of view but this time I can't.

I can only go on what I know so here goes, when non ped people breed with their whippets they usually have homes already picked for the pups, it is very hard when someone new comes into whippet racing because they find it very difficult to find some one who will sell them a pup. As for selling adult whippets :b I would not sell an adult whippet because once it has been to my home it usually is a pet first and I love them to bits, however to stay in whippet racing one must along the way make room for racing whippets and so even though now I still have 7 whippets at home I have let two who were non racing due to leaning on or

not interested go to pet home's where they are very much loved :))

I am not into selling young whippets and can see there is a lot of it going off at the moment but we do not know the reasons behind the sales !!! but yes it does make us look bad :oops:

Forgot to mention the ages of my whippets start from 18 month to 15 years :D

I will attempt to answer your question though Kaz, I think it's more a matter of people commenting on what they see around them. Most pedigree owners read the general whippet forum and possibly the ped racing or the showing forum, I suppose depending on what appeals to them.

The non ped folk tend to stick to the non ped forum but they too will voice their opinions of irreputable breeders and probably with a lot more criticism too. A lot of the old, regular ped k9er's know this hence the comments about running for cover and probably why there's been so many views and no replies. (They're all watching and waiting :- " )

There's bad apples wherever you go in life but it's the folk who care who weedle them out and stop the whole barrel from rotting.
