my question was aimed at ped owners...i wasnt implying anything has been said by ped owners about non ped owners....its generally ped owners trashing ped breeders or ped dogs being rehomed.....but my question is why dont they comment on the non ped owners breeding habits too?

obviously this question is understood by many and as i said i wasnt trying to be cause an issue....it really was a genuine observation ....and i thought there may be a genuine answer.....fair enough if noone want to answer :(

I was a little upset by one of your previous threads Kaz but decided that time that discretion was the better part of valour and left well alone. This time I DO think you are trying to cause an issue- despite what you say. Circumstances have caused me to reminise a lot over the past few days, I have lived with a whippet in the house for 46 years during that time have met many wonderful ped whippet owners, people who show, people who race or people who just love them, why can't you be pleased for the breed because it has so many wonderful supporters

and stop trying to knock them all the time. It's made me very sad to write this because I do try to see everyone's point of view but this time I can't.

Jenny

WELL SAID    SPOT ON

well im sorry you both feel like that :( but it really wasnt aimed at anyone....just a genuine question....sometimes people read into what i say far more than is meant :b

Here here!! Well said Jenny
I will attempt to answer your question though Kaz, I think it's more a matter of people commenting on what they see around them. Most pedigree owners read the general whippet forum and possibly the ped racing or the showing forum, I suppose depending on what appeals to them.

The non ped folk tend to stick to the non ped forum but they too will voice their opinions of irreputable breeders and probably with a lot more criticism too. A lot of the old, regular ped k9er's know this hence the comments about running for cover and probably why there's been so many views and no replies. (They're all watching and waiting :- " )

There's bad apples wherever you go in life but it's the folk who care who weedle them out and stop the whole barrel from rotting.

i just read "view new posts" not a specific section as such.....obviously there is a history to this that i was unaware of

I DIDNT....ITS BEEN MOVED!....I DIDNT WANT IT MOVED AND WOULD LIKE IT MOVED BACK PLEASE!

there always seems to be many non ped whippet pups available...plus many unwanted non ped whippet adults?many people on k9 jump up and down if anyone dares to rehome a pedigree whippet regardless of their circumstances and trashes many pedigree whippet breeders for one reason or another....so why the double standards?
So you wanted the ped folk to speak on behalf of the actions of non ped racers?

Isn't this incitement?

no.... i think i am not being understood.....my point is this....for instance....some ped people slate ped owners who need to rehome their dogs for some reason or advertise pups....ok...but non ped people do it all the time....so my point isnt that they do that.....because actually i dont think its a crime to advertise pups or rehome dogs in certain cicumstances at all as i have often said.....my question is just why the ped people never comment on the non ped people but trash ped people for doing exactly the same?...because surely they should care about all dogs ...not just pedigree whippets?....does this make sense....

I think it's because certain PED breeders don't get on with the NON-PED breeders and if they spoke up about it, they would get flamed by the non-ped ones,

I think this is the answer your looking for?

if its worth anything imo some will just look after whats close to them, whilst they may have an opinion on what others do they may not comment as they feel they have enough to deal with in their own sections? does that make sense to you? i know what i mean lol! we cant help all of the dogs all of the time but we can help some all of the time?

does that help at all , we are all dog lovers and i think we all agree on that

its all plastic to me lol stormy i will fill in the cracks when they all finish fighting lol

Takes a deep breath and

I found it very hard to find a pup when i was first looking (over a year) i was looking for a ped (i dont know why just was)

Over the last year i have noticed there is a lot more pups avalable in both Ped and non Ped section....I would have thought most breeders do try and have homes waiting, but sometimes these will fall through ie. new owners let breeders down, or breeders not thinking the home suitable anymore...

There are def more older whippets for sale, over a year old....and while i would hate to have to see one of my whips going to a new home, At the moment both my husband and i have a job, a house and room, we have 3 children.....if circumsatnces changed then maybe i would have to reconsider...it would break my heart but i would have to put my kids first.

I know not all older whips which come up for sale have a change in circumstance and some are just got rid of, but i think you have to take each case as an individual...not every breeder is a puppy farmer, and not everyone who decides to rehome their whippet is a uncaring monster......

As i dont know many of you personally or any breeders this is my opinion only, i maybe talking complete rubbish :- "

I dont go in the non-ped section so I can't comment at all but there do seem to be more whippies 'advertised' now I personally think that one of the reasons for this is that K9 is growing, there are more members, and as it becomes better known there are going to be more dogs posted that are available to good homes.

Before we got Star we waited for 3 months for a whippet who needed a new home, in the end we gave up and indulged ourselves with a puppy  if it were now I'm sure something would have come along in that time.

There are some people who only use this site to advertise litters or unwanted dogs, but even then if it means the dogs get a good home what the hell?

I couldn't find one either to start with :( mind you if I'd found K9 any sooner I'd probably have about 10 by now  :sweating: :b

Like i've said before, it'd suit me fine if litters/dogs were banned from being advertised on here at all. Although one thing i do find with non ped owners who choose to part with pups or older dogs is they don't bullshit people and pray on newcomers - they generally go to other racers who know the score.

I still stand by what i said about advertising pups - good well bred pups, bred by a reputable breeder with some success WILL NOT need to advertise pups as they will have people queing at the door on ability only. Any fool can breed!!!
