They have been great with him ....he is never left alone with them ..and he tells them off if they do something he doesn't like especially if he runs and teddy thinks it will be fun to try and grab his tail ..
😃
Well he has certainly come to life ..has been playing tug of war with my mum today and had a run around the garden this evening ..real Zoomies ...he can certainly run even with unsteady back legs 🤪🤪
Thanks RGC ...this is our 3rd elderly foster terrier we have taken in ...my husband didnt want to do it again as he gets so attached ...I think differently...our own terriers didnt get to see old age really...Sid went to the bridge 2 months before his 9th birthday and Tom was 10 ...both young...
Yes Jo ...unless someone wanted to adopt him he will stay with us permanently...he walked all around the woods this morning refusing to be picked up ...he is a real sweetheart
Alot of rescues Will Not take Patterdale terriers ...but some like any terriers are wonderful dogs ..its so so sad ...
We collected an elderly patterdale terrier this morning. He is 15 next month ...a little wobbly on his back legs .. a late deaf....partially sighted but still enjoying life ...his owner died last December ...no other rescue would take him ...apart from Lynne at Rescue remedies...he met my...
With the different breeds she has in her you really need her to have bite inhibition this is so important for our dogs to be soft mouthed and know when enough is enough ..they normally get this by 6 months if you've had them from young pups ...one of my boys is great the other has to be reminded...
@TamingSid Have a read up on salukis and all will make sense on your boys behaviour...and you've only had him 6 days so his behaviour to me is perfectly normal...i have only really ever had sighthounds and terriers for the past 40 years
Aw it all appears clearer now ..your boy looks like he has a splash of saluki in him ....yes the ear nipping is a way they try to encourage other dogs to play ...he is gorgeous...
My lot used to nip each others heels...
We always had 4/5 sighthounds now we have 2 deerhound boys ...
They are also...
Sighthounds are very different to other breeds they play differently and what can come across as aggression isnt ...I fostered a greyhound pup once and she was the naughtiest pup I had ever fostered....he will get there ....patience is a virtue ....pics please ;)
My lurcher was diagnosed with kidney failure ...I put him on royal canin wet and dry renal food which he hated ....I regret every day not just letting him have anything he wanted ...to me at 14 it should be quality not quantity...we only want to do the best for them ...my boy was coming up 11...
I'm not a fan of walking dogs on slip leads ...they were originally for Working dogs who could be slipped on and off easily not to be walked on ...
I worry they do damage to the throat..but I suppose its each to their own...must admit I wouldn't trust any behaviourist advising to use a slip lead...
Neutering Does Not always solve aggression..a neighbours golden retriever went through an awful phase so she had the implant put in that mimics neutering and guess what Nothing changed ...he did get over it but neutering was not the answer....once it's done there is no going back 😉
