2008 Oz & Nz Show Results

Gee news travels fast. I came on here to post something else and saw that everyone already knew about Clover's BIS. It was a special win because I let the strapper handle her. I occasionally let him have a go to keep him interested and so that he'll take me to shows. :- " He, naturally...

    Suki The Saluki

We've owned 3 now and they are extremely cat-like and like Basenjis, I find they have retained their primal basic instincts so training them can be difficult as they are very independent. I've met many Salukis in pet homes but I've only known one breeder who has ever achieved formal obedience...

    Suki The Saluki

You're very brave. I have a Saluki and have been involved with the breed for a while but would never let one off lead unless in a fully enclosed area. As you say, they are delightful inside and very cat like but just like cats, they love the opportunity to hunt. Have fun with her.

    Breeding To Keep.

I would be very surprised if the price of a whippet was that dissimilar in the UK to what we experience in Australia. Some breeders charge more than others. Shop around but prices are often dictated by what prospective owners are prepared to pay. :- " I have never charged as much as some...

    Breeding To Keep.

Rosie, I wasn’t sure of what you were seeking in your posts so I reread them and have the following comments: “I started this topic to see why there was such prejudice against pet owners breeding from their dogs.” With respect, Rosie, this is definitely a two-way street. “the outcasts from a...

    Breeding To Keep.

I'm not really sure what your concern is, but I have to say that although I grew up with many animals and have attainted various certificates on animal husbandry, hold a CGC instructors certificate, worked in various animal industry jobs, showing dogs has taught me heaps and more importantly...

2007 Oz & Nz Show Results

Have caught up on sleep and back into a routine. Whilst we've done night shows before, going into the ring at 11 pm is when we're normally arriving home. The dogs were out of routine. My RR went into his crate, curled up and went to sleep for the night. He seemed a little lost when we got...

2007 Oz & Nz Show Results

Leanne Coffey also bred whippets under her Beaglee prefix. Will post results for our Spring Fair and specialty shows later - when I feel a little more awake. Getting to bed at 2 am each night and being one who still wakes when the sun rises, and then our specialty show yesterday, I feel (and...

2007 Oz & Nz Show Results

Sorry, I don't normally buy catalogues and therefore, don't usually post results if I don't have the full placing but thought you might be interested in Sunday's show. County of Cumerberland, NSW Judge: Stephen Wheeler (Sweden - ex Melbourne - Jacosta Afghans). Entry of 30 BOB Ch Skyeway...

    Showing

As a judge, it doesn't bother me one way or the other and nor should a judge take dewclaws into account unless a standard specifically mentions them. As a breeder and owner, we've never removed them from our RR's in over 30 years and we did hunt our dogs in the early days. Our Border Terriers...

    Whippet Club Of Victoria

Just not what I thought would happen, that's all, and it's nice to be surprised. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Royals have always had the reputation of being 'lotteries'. I'm glad I didn't enter Melbourne this year as the judge only selected Open exhibits for CC's and as we all know, an Open exhibit...

    Eyes And Ears

You're ALL welcome but I don't think the Club's coffers can spread to airfares but I'm sure we can stretch out for some tea and coffee. :p . Seriously though, if anyone has an example of great topline and underline (you can cut off heads, rear and legs), we'd love to see it. Anne-Marie...

    Eyes And Ears

Great post, and please rest assured, we're not singling out eyes and ears but we've done the same with images of feet, fronts, rears, etc. Judging is a like jigsaw - little pieces fit together to give you the final picture. :) But getting back to the S shape. Someone suggested we NOT...
