We were feeding him a bit over the recommended amount and reduced it. We have also changed his treats to a natural type. His new food is Ava kibble and step up to naturals wet food. We are looking at all the basic issues for soft poo first and if no change then see the vet next week when he has...
He was checked over by the vet nurse during his monthly check up and he was not showing any other symptoms. She asked the vet and he said see if it’s food related first, if it gets worse to bring him in. We have now completed the change over of his food and will see how he goes on. He is due for...
We have a 5 month cocker spaniel puppy who has some poo issues. The first month after we brought him home we fed him lilies kitchen puppy dried food and everything was fine. Then slowly over the next 2 months it all changed starting with good followed by soft throughout the day, now they are all...
Hi JudyN, he had his monthly check at the vets and I discussed the problem. They gave the same advice walk him up and down using a lead at a slow pace. At the moment I can still carry him but when he gets too big I will have to use the lead.
Hi JudyN, yes I have tried the advice on the videos. If I go into the garden with him on his lead he just wants to play. I have stopped when he pulls, he stops then lies down and waits for me to move. Change direction and he thinks it’s a game and jumps up biting his lead. I have enrolled him in...
We have a 18weeks cocker spaniel who loves to go out for his walks. Unfortunately we have two problems. We got him used to walking on his lead indoors which was ok, but as soon we go outside is he is so eager he constantly pulls trying hard to eat everything around him. If we put a collar on...
We live in a three floor house with the living area on the first floor. Up to 3 months old we carried our cocker spaniel puppy up and down the stairs for playtime and toileting. At 14 weeks he learnt how to go up and down them himself. I have recently read that puppies shouldn’t be allowed to...
Thanks for the advice, we are glad we asked as now we know not to leave him. The only question is we have to go to an appointment which will take us out for about 90 mins. There isn’t anyone we can ask to dog sit.
Hi JudyN
Yes if we leave him in a room so we can do some house work after 5 mins he starts barking and continues for around 15 minutes then stops. After he stops we go in and see him but when we leave he starts again. Thank you for the link it is very interesting and given us a lot of help.
We are feeding him with Lily’s kitchen puppy food and when I say a long walk it is puppy standard 15 minutes. He sleeps when he comes back but as soon as he wakes and realises we are not there he starts the barking.
Hi JudyN, thanks for your reply and advice. We did try going back to basics leaving him for a short time and building it up. We only got to 5 minutes then he barked continuously for around 15 minutes before stopping. He is sleeping less than he was and has a lot of energy. We have tried taking...
I know barking has probably been discussed before but we are looking for help and advice to our situation. We are retired and have a working cocker spaniel puppy who is just 4 months old. He is with us most of the day and does not have a crate. We have taken the advice given online about...
Thanks for all your input and advice. What we can’t fathom out is she will go out and have a wee getting praise. We then assume she has emptied her bladder and shouldn’t need to go again for a while. But 15 - 20 minutes later she indicates she wants to go again so we take her out and she does...
Hi JoanneF thanks for your advice we did take her out hourly but found it difficult to reward her with even small treats because she is tiny she started eating less at meal times. We never react to mishaps and are fortunate we have hard floors not carpet. As she has got older taking her out...
Hi I am new to the dog forum and looking for some help and advice. We have a 6 month Jack Chi puppy and a 4 year of the same breed. The puppies toileting is causing us problems as she is unpredictable. She can go through the night with no problems and 3 - 4 hours during the morning and evening...
