At last year's Cup I offered to let a friend know how her dog was running. Ended up with frostbite, as the dog was runner up and I had to ring 6 times!
Only memorable thing our dog did was run under the judges horse, which reared and hit the judge in the face!
Might see you there...
Trouble with the Waterloo Cup is that it is held at what feels like the coldest place on earth!
We hope our bitch runs well this week so that she can get a run in the Waterloo. Last year she ran unsighted! (very fast!)

"What exemptions are there?
Dogs can be used as long as there are no more than two of them, and all they do is stalk or flush out quarry above ground, but not from underground, to waiting guns. If quarry is being shot to protect game birds, then dogs can be used below ground."
I saw this in...
I read that today, and it doesn't make any sense does it? Would we all be allowed to go along to watch?
It would imply that we could all carry on as before, as long as we make sure that instead of letting the hares get away (which they do most of the time) we make sure that they DIE!

Why have you posted on another forum that you did not receive any helpful advice on this forum?
You only have to read Jan's posts to see that she is a sensible breeder, and I personally would value her experienced advice.

So sorry to hear that Mark. As I found out a couple of weeks ago when our 12 1/2 year old greyhound was put to sleep, it still hurts like hell even when you know the time is right.

They want to use the Parliament act to force the bill through the Lords. One of the acts may be illegal so it depends which one they are going to use.

The government claim that coursing must be banned in 3 months to bring poaching under control.
I can't get over this one. Nothing will stop the poachers! Law abiding people will be stopped though. Coursing under rules doesn't include trespassing!

Hi
Am I right in thinking that coursing whippets are mainly kept in the home as pets? If coursing is banned in about three months time are there kennel whippets whose futures will look bleak?
I only wondered as there are a lot of coursing greyhounds who will meet their end if there is a ban...
The Waterloo Cup is a greyhound event. The greyhounds running in the cup years ago were much smaller than they are now. For example Master McGrath weighed around 54lbs (1862 ish) and the finalists in this year's cup were more like 90lbs.
How heavy are coursing whippets these days?
