 Thanks for the update, I was wondering how he was doing and it's great to know that it is nothing sinister. It's so hard when symptoms are slightly vague. When Rifle was ill I was back and forwards to the vets and I think we covered just about everything, including spinal x-rays...
Dietary problems aside, does he have any other symptoms? I went through weeks stretching into months with an 'off colour' dog, who was sometimes a bit stiff but a feature was his reluctance to be moved, to jump up onto furniture etc, even to the extent at times we could not touch him without...
Sadly there is nothing that the RSPCA could do unless neglect or cruelty could be proven. Unfortunately there is no law against advertising a bitch in season and these free advertising sites have created another outlet for some of the less caring animal owners amongst the population.
The advert states they are selling a dog as well, wonder if he has been neutered? Poor dogs, unfortunately there are all too many just like them advertised almost every week. I just hope they find their way to people who care about them.
Mine get lamb ribs, marrow bones etc as part of their diet as well. I brought the Stag bars in as something inbetween, not really 'food' but longer lasting than the average dog chew, mainly because Rosie will chew anything she shouldn't.... pencils are a favourite, and emery boards :wacko...
The glossy leaflet that came with them, left on my kitchen worktop, had a similar effect on my son..... He came into the kitchen, glanced at the leaflet and exclaimed............ "SLAGBAR???? What sort of night out are you planning??" :teehee: (w00t) :teehee: (w00t)
He couldn't...
Mine have chicken wings regularly Gillian and I've never had a problem with choking (touch wood...). Rifle has had them from coming to me as a pup but Rosie at 17 months had clearly never seen anything like it when she came to me. I did as someone else suggested and held onto the tip...
Rambo is gorgeous  I have to say I always intended to have two whippets, but personal circumstances intervened and I didn't get my second until my boy, Rifle was almost 5. I haven't regretted it at all, even though initially Rosie, as a rescue, and only 17 months old had a lot of issues...
If you can't get it out easily with a sterilised needle/tweezers (and you do have to be careful you don't push it in deeper) then soaking in warm salt water or failing that, a poultice. Magnesium sulphate paste is readily available from chemists and has a 'drawing' action or an old fashioned...
 He seems to be adjusting well to his new role in life, Janis.
To clarify, for those who have asked, in harness racing there are actually two types of horse... trotters and pacers. Looking at his photographs Arnie was a pacer, which means instead of using the normal diagonal sequence...
:D Thank you all for your kind words and offers of a forever home for Woolly however I am sorry to disappoint you but am happy to say he is now settling well in his new forever home.
He is the perfect whippet for my sister, Deb, and brother in law Stu and is already very much loved having...
Ooops..... sorry. I am planning future litters but hadn't thought of selling them. If I have a bumper litter in the future then there may be some for sale with proceeds to a nominated charity.
Of course he will be neutered, as a responsible breeder I am making sure that there are not going to be any unwanted woolly whippets
I've been a knitter for most of my life, but breeding these woollies has been a challenge! :sweating:
Janis, I will make sure that any black and whites from the next litter are headed your way........ I am planning a multi-coloured litter in the future... :D :D :D
How clever! This was my first woolly whippet and I hope that the subsequent litter will be a bumper one, with any conformational defects minimized. That said, my woolly puppies will only be homed to the most loving homes where they will be loved despite any minor defects. I am hoping for some...
